  • Publication number: 20190137262
Abstract: A hand-held device for obtaining a three-dimensional topological surface profile of a tyre, the device comprising: a base comprising an aperture; a light source arranged in use to generate an elongate pattern of light, and to project said pattern through the aperture onto a rolling surface of the tyre; a detector arranged to image a region of the rolling surface of the tyre; a plurality of pairs of guide wheels mounted on respective axles mounted on the base, wherein the guide wheels on adjacent axles are linked by gears; and a rotary encoder arranged to generate a signal corresponding to rotation of an axle.

  • Patent number: 9180523
Abstract: A parting and grooving tool includes a toolholder and a cutting insert. The toolholder has a toolholder body including a main body portion and an elastic clamping arm that define an insert-receiving pocket. The pocket has a top surface formed by the clamping arm and a bottom surface formed by the main body portion for contacting a top and a bottom surface of a cutting insert. The toolholder body includes a second arm, the second arm and the clamping arm defining a slot. A threaded hole extends through the second arm to the slot. The toolholder has a screw having threads that mate with threads in the threaded hole so that the clamping arm is movable into and out of contact with the top surface of the insert. An axis of the threaded hole is substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the insert-receiving pocket and intersects the cutting insert.

  • Patent number: 8511943
Abstract: A milling insert (1) for chip removing machining, has a positive basic geometry, including at least three main cutting edges (H1-H3) and three associated minor cutting edges (B1-B3), the milling insert (1) on the underside (L1) thereof being provided with at least two, mutually intersecting, sets of rectilinear grooves/notches, the sets of grooves/notches defining essentially pyramidal projecting parts (P), the sets of grooves/notches intersecting opposite side surfaces (S1-S6) of the milling insert (1). A face milling cutter equipped with such milling inserts is described. Characteristic of the milling insert (1) is that when the milling insert is seen in a planar view, the rectilinear direction (R1-R3) defined by each set of grooves/notches forms a right angle with the tangent of a minor cutting edge (B1-B3).

  • Patent number: 7427896
Abstract: A device, comprising a storage means (51) for storing phase change values, and a phase offset adding means (50) for predistorting an input signal at an amplifier means is disclosed. A controller means (52) is connected to the storage means (52) and the phase offset adding means (50). Said controller means (52) is adapted to retrieve phase change values from the storage means (51), and output an offset signal to the phase offset adding means (50), which is adapted to add said offset signal to the input signal. The invention also discloses a method for predistorting an input signal at an amplifier means (30) by retrieving phase change values from a look-up table stored in the storage means (30) in response to an indication to change the gain level of the amplifier means (30).

  • Patent number: 7205842
Abstract: The present invention comprises a method and apparatus for continuously, controlling a gain of an amplifier circuit while switching between open-loop and closed-loop power control. A control circuit controls the gain of the amplifier circuit during open-loop and closed-loop power control modes based on selected references. Before the switch from open-loop to closed-loop power control, the control circuit determines a closed-loop reference based on a power measured at the amplifier circuit output before the switch. After the switch, the control circuit controls the gain of the amplifier circuit based on the determined closed-loop reference. Before switching from closed-loop to open-loop power control, the control circuit generates a difference between a current open-loop reference and a previous open-loop reference.
