  • Publication number: 20110114089
Abstract: A Breath Actuated Inhaler (10) comprising a canister (14) with a medication dispensed when compressing the canister (14). Compression of the canister (14) is prevented by a mechanism only allowing compression when an air flow is sufficient to ensure dispensing of the medication in the lungs/throat of the person. No latch or blocking mechanism is provided so that any force exerted by the person is, at all times, directed to the canister or preventing mechanism so that when no force is exerted by the user, no force is exerted in the inhaler (10). Prolonged exertion of such force could otherwise cause dimension changes and subsequent uncertainty of the dose size.

  • Publication number: 20100189276
Abstract: The present invention relates to devices and methods for automatically determining the use status of medical devices and more particularly to automatic power management based on said use status in electronic medical devices. Specifically, although not exclusively, the invention relates to power management of electronic stethoscopes (1), when such devices are turned on prior to the use of the stethoscope and to problems related to turning on such devices or relating to the time required for such electronic devices to become operable after turning on the device prior to use. Furthermore, the use status determination according to the invention may find use in other devices than stethoscopes, such as injector devices for administering medicaments or inhaling devices.

  • Publication number: 20090308387
Abstract: A dry powder or aerosol inhaler having attached thereto, in a detachable manner, a sound/vibration sensor adapted to sense sound/vibration in the interval of 100-3000 Hz and there from derive a parameter of a flow in a flow path of the inhaler. The sensor does not interfere with the flow path of the inhaler.

  • Publication number: 20040170285
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of a stethoscope as one part of an interface unit for biological signals. An electroacoustic driver is provided with a signal from e.g. a sound card in a personal computer, and special leak-free coupling means are provided to enable a faithful transmission of the biological signal from e.g. the digital domain in a computer to the ears of a physician used to auscultation—or training to become proficient. The communication of and about physiological signals is remarkably improved with respect to traditional systems.
