    Abstract: A method for preparing an asphalt emulsion having the smooth texture of whipped cream and which may be cold laid on wet wood and concrete surfaces to dry without blistering. Asphalt is heated to a temperature within the range from about 375.degree. F. to about 400.degree. F. and subsequently rapidly admixed with an aqueous slurry of hydrophilic clay in a manner and in proportions which achieve heat transfer from asphalt to clay slurry without excessive water evaporation to provide the desired emulsification.
