Patent number: 12201061Abstract: A cleaning arrangement for separating a billet material from an extraneous plant matter in a sugarcane harvester includes a cleaning chamber defining an inlet for the billet material and the extraneous plant matter, a first outlet for the extraneous plant matter, and a second outlet for the billet material. A fan is positioned within the cleaning chamber and configured to generate an airflow to direct the extraneous plant matter toward the first outlet. A billet deflector is located between the inlet and the first outlet and configured to direct the billet material toward the second outlet. An actuation mechanism is coupled to the billet deflector and is controllable to adjust the position of the billet deflector. A sensor is configured to generate a signal. A controller is programmed to activate the actuation mechanism to adjust the position of the billet deflector based on the signal.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2021Date of Patent: January 21, 2025Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Blain J. Cazenave, Dusk S. Mixon, John A. Dighton

Publication number: 20240423129Abstract: A sugarcane harvester configured to cut sugarcane into a sugarcane mat having crop debris and billets. The harvester includes an extractor configured to receive the sugarcane mat at an inlet and to discharge crop debris from the sugarcane mat at an outlet. An extractor located between the inlet and the outlet includes an extractor fan having fan blades and a vane assembly including a plurality of guide vanes, wherein the angle of the guide vanes is adjustable. A selector includes a manual position to enable adjustment of a rotational speed of the fan blades and an automatic position which automatically adjusts the rotational speed of the fan blades. A controller identifies the position of the selector, and in response to the position of the selector adjusts the angle of the guide vanes to optimize fan performance for cleaning and fuel savings.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2023Publication date: December 26, 2024Inventor: Blain J. Publication number: 20240415059Abstract: A cleaning arrangement for separating a billet material from an extraneous plant matter in a sugarcane harvester includes a cleaning chamber defining an inlet for the billet material and the extraneous plant matter, a first outlet for the extraneous plant matter, and a second outlet defined in a basket for the billet material. A fan is positioned within the cleaning chamber and configured to generate an airflow to direct the extraneous plant matter toward the first outlet. A supplemental air attachment may positioned to promote the extraction of extraneous plant matter. A billet deflector may be located between the inlet and the basket and configured to direct the billet material toward the basket.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 15, 2023Publication date: December 19, 2024Inventor: Blain J. Patent number: 11895951Abstract: A fan hub for an extractor for a harvesting machine that harvests a crop. The fan hub having a hub cover positioned along a rotation axis of a fan of the extractor. The hub cover is adjustable to alter the profile of the hub cover relative to the rotation axis.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2020Date of Patent: February 13, 2024Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventor: Blain J. Patent number: 11778947Abstract: A sugarcane harvester for harvesting sugarcane including a cutter configured to cut sugarcane into a sugarcane mat. An extractor is operatively connected to the cutter, and includes a fan housing having an inlet configured to receive the sugarcane mat and an outlet configured to discharge crop debris. A fan is located in the fan housing to move the sugarcane mat through the fan housing and includes a motor, blades rotatably coupled to the motor, and a blade angle of incidence mechanism operatively connected to the blades, wherein the blade angle of incidence mechanism adjusts the angle of incidence of the blades with respect to the motor. Sensors identify an air flow through the fan housing or a load placed on the motor during movement of the sugarcane mat through the fan housing. The angle of incidence of the blades is adjusted based on one or both of the air flow through the fan housing or the load placed on the motor.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2021Date of Patent: October 10, 2023Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventor: Blain J.
