  • Publication number: 20090054052
Abstract: The invention provides an improved remotely controlled, solar-powered traffic beacon. Remote control is provided by a communications system that utilizes a cellular telephone modem and public cellular telephone networks to receive a schedule of activation/deactivation times or alternatively to receive immediate on/off commands. Furthermore, the communications system allows for the transmission of operational feedback data from the solar-powered traffic beacon to the user. The invention allows for remote control of solar-powered traffic beacons. The remotely controlled, solar-powered traffic beacon comprises at least one traffic beacon including a lamp to warn traffic, solar panels to recharge batteries, batteries to store and supply power, communications circuitry containing a cellular telephone modem and software to receive the remote instructions and operational circuitry and software to manage the operation of all components.

  • Patent number: 5327161
Abstract: A system and method for emulating a mouse input device with a touchpad input device having a drag switch and touch device in which the direction of movement of the touch device across the touchpad surface is determined, a display cursor is caused to move in the same relative direction as the direction determined by the touch device, and the cursor movement is continued in that same relative direction either in or out of a drag mode, even after the touch device stops moving so as to allow the cursor to be moved a greater distance than the touch device.

  • Patent number: 4806709
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for determining the location of a designated point on an electrically sensitive touch-screen surface while minimizing aberrations introduced by non-uniformity in the field applied to the surface, by attaching a plurality of field-producing discrete point electrodes to widely spaced points on the surface in a predetermined geometric pattern and by measuring the currents drawn from the point electrodes upon the capacitive touching of a designated location on the surface.
