  • Patent number: 11809686
Abstract: User interfaces may enable users to initiate voice-communications with voice-controlled devices via a Wi-Fi network or other network via an Internet Protocol (IP) address. The user interfaces may include controls to enable users to initiate voice communications, such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls, with devices that do not have connectivity with traditional mobile telephone networks, such as traditional circuit transmissions of a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). For example, the user interface may enable initiating a voice communication with a voice-controlled device that includes network connectivity via a home Wi-Fi network. The user interfaces may indicate availability of devices and/or contacts for voice communications and/or recent activity of devices or contact.

  • Patent number: 11632345
Abstract: Systems and methods to prevent or diminish message thread explosion are disclosed. Message data sent between members of a communal profile and/or between members of multiple communal profiles may be consolidated into a single message thread, which may be displayed on devices associated with the members associated with of the communal profile(s). Consolidation of the message data into a communal message thread may allow users to more intuitively view conversations between members of their communal profile and/or between members of their communal profile and other communal profiles without viewing individual message threads between members of the communal profile(s).

  • Patent number: 11016628
Abstract: Electronic devices, interfaces for electronic devices, and techniques for interacting with such interfaces and electronic devices are described. For instance, this disclosure describes an example electronic device that includes sensors, such as multiple front-facing cameras to detect orientation and/or location of the electronic device relative to an object and one or more inertial sensors. Users of the device may perform gestures on the device by moving the device in-air and/or by moving their head, face, or eyes relative to the device. In response to these gestures, the device may perform operations.

  • Patent number: 10212390
Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for enabling a standby mode during videoconferencing, the standby mode having reduced bandwidth consumption and configured to indicate whether a person is present while protecting a privacy of the person. For example, a local device may capture low resolution video data at a low sampling rate, downsample the video data and send the downsampled video data to a remote device, which may upsample the downsampled video data and display the upsampled video data on a display. The upsampled video data indicates an environment of the local device while blurring details, enabling a user of the remote device to identify movement or activity while maintaining privacy for anyone near the local device. The local device may identify activity, motion and/or objects of interest in the video data and may apply a special effect emphasizing the activity, motion and/or objects of interest.
