    Abstract: A disposable, self-contained apparatus for preserving the wine remaining after a bottle of wine has been opened and partially consumed. The apparatus reflects a simple design without the need for separate gas cartridges. The apparatus deposits and maintains a layer of inert gas on the surface of the remaining wine thereby displacing the air-containing oxygen that would otherwise adversely react with the wine. All the air in the headspace need not be purged.
