  • Publication number: 20240058182
Abstract: A method for making an absorbent structure for use in a disposable absorbent article is provided. The method involves the steps of providing a first moving surface having an absorbent layer-forming reservoir, providing a supply of absorbent material, and depositing a portion of the supply of absorbent material into the absorbent layer-forming reservoir. The method further involves associating the portion of the supply of absorbent material with a first substrate layer and/or a second substrate layer to define an absorbent structure having a channel therein corresponding to the one or more raised strips, and bonding the first substrate layer to the second substrate layer through the channel. The channel is substantially free of the absorbent material.

  • Patent number: 11373102
Abstract: Various examples are described for using a movement sensor to detecting an activity of an infant. In an example, an activity classification system includes a sensor configured to measure the activity of an infant and an external monitor. The monitor receives, from a sensor, a time series of data comprising an inertial measurement for each a time period. The monitor determines, from the time series and by using a predictive model, an activity from a list of identified activities. Examples of identified activities are deep sleep, light sleep, sitting, awake, nursing, or bottle feeding.

  • Publication number: 20210393446
Abstract: A system includes an absorbent article that absorbs and contains bodily exudates and comprises an indication unit that generates an optical signal indicative of presence of the bodily exudates within the absorbent article. The indication unit comprises an optical property changing element that changes from having a first optical property to having a second optical property in response to exposure to the bodily exudates. The indication unit further comprises a visual modifying element proximate that provides a visual modification to the second optical property, resulting in the optical signal comprising a third optical property, wherein a sensor device that attaches to the absorbent article detects the presence of the bodily exudates based on recognition of the optical signal comprising the third optical property.
