    Abstract: An improved, user-friendly medical device is provided for inducing blood vessel distension and for reducing post-venipuncture bruising. The device comprises an elastomeric band adapted to be stretched to encircle a limb with overlap lengths, a pressure applicator secured to the band and a pair of complementary releasably engageable coupling pads spaced apart and secured to the elastomeric band. At least one of the pair of coupling pads is elastic such that the device is elastic over at least about 80 percent of the length of the band.
