    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for utilizing unused bit resources to convey restrictions on parameters evaluated for a feedback report in a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) wireless communication system. In one embodiment, a method of operation of a transmitting node in a wireless network includes transmitting a feedback restriction indicator to a receiving node, where the feedback restriction indicator is an unused bit resource in one or more instances of a control channel that is indicative of one or more desired restrictions on parameters to be evaluated by the receiving node for a feedback report to be provided from the receiving node. The method of operation of the transmitting node further includes receiving the feedback report from the receiving node, where the feedback report is limited according to the feedback restriction indicator.

    Abstract: A method by a network node in a communications system includes determining a codebook subset restriction indicating a reduced set of precoding matrices out of an original set of precoding matrices in an original codebook. The full set of Precoding Matrix Indicator, PMI, bits is used to identify the original set of precoding matrices in the original codebook. The method includes determining a reduced set of Precoding Matrix Indicator, PMI, bits for use in a feedback channel based on a number of entries in the reduced set of precoding matrices. The reduced set of PMI bits has fewer bits than the full set of PMI bits. Related user equipments, methods by user equipments and network nodes are disclosed.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and arrangements in a communication system for Multi User Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MU-MIMO) signaling via Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) antennas between a base station and one of a plurality of mobile terminals supporting both Single User and Multi User Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (SU-MIMO and MU-MIMO) signaling modes. Switching between the modes is supported in the system and the modes have partly shared signaling. SU-MIMO mode signaling which is redundant, i.e. not needed, for MU-MIMO mode signaling is identified. Bits, i.e. data bits, of the identified redundant signaling is re-interpreted or re-defined to comprise signaling information associated with MU-MIMO mode. The signaling information associated with MU-MIMO mode is signaled to the mobile terminal by using the reinterpreted redundant bits.

    Abstract: A method performed by a central network node includes instructing one of a first network node and a second network node to transmit to a first wireless device. The central network node receives a first Channel Quality Indicator, CQI, and a third CQI sent by the first wireless device. The first CQI has been computed by the first wireless device based on a first unique signal transmitted by the first network node. The third CQI has been computed by the first wireless device based on a second unique signal transmitted by the second network node. The central network node identifies the one of the first and the second network nodes having a better channel quality, based on the received first CQI and the third CQI. The central network node sends a first message to the identified network node, instructing it to transmit to the first wireless device.

    Abstract: A method comprises determining a first and a second sub-carrier associated with a channel, and multiplying a signal received on the first sub-carrier with a first number to form a first resulting signal. The first number multiplied with a known signal transmitted by a second transmitting node on the first sub-carrier equals a constant value. A signal received on the second sub-carrier is multiplied with a second number to form a second resulting signal. The second number multiplied with the known signal transmitted by the second transmitting node on the second sub-carrier equals the constant value. The second resulting signal is subtracted from the first resulting signal to obtain a signal for which interference from the second transmitting node is suppressed, and the channel is estimated based on the obtained signal.

    Abstract: In MU-MIMO scenarios, a transmitting node (700) receives feedback on a feedback channel from a receiving node (1200) regarding a channel between the transmitting and receiving nodes (700, 1200). The feedback also includes preferences of the receiving node (1200). However, the feedback may not always be useful. For example, the receiving node (1200) may indicate a preferred rank in the feedback that the transmitting node (700) cannot accommodate. To address such issues, mechanisms for the transmitting node (700) to convey its preferences to the receiving node (1200) are proposed. The receiving node (1200), with such knowledge, can provide more useful feedback information to the transmitting node (700).

The radio base station instructs the mobile terminal to report channel quality measurements obtained by the terminal for the multiple carriers over the same uplink channel during successive reporting intervals. According to one embodiment, the mobile terminal reports channel quality by receiving data symbols transmitted on a plurality of frequency carriers in a multi-carrier CDMA environment and measuring channel quality for the different frequency carriers. The mobile terminal reports individual ones of the channel quality measurements over the same uplink channel during successive reporting intervals.

    Abstract: Handover is a main function that is used to support mobility in the network. In a cellular communication network having adaptive antennas for enabling narrow beam operation, a network control unit sends a radio link setup request to a selected cell-serving network unit for configuration of a new serving radio link. Before responding to the radio link setup request the cell-serving network unit performs uplink measurements with respect to the mobile unit, and a narrow target beam is selected within a cell served by the cell-serving network unit based on these measurements. The cell-serving network unit then configures the new serving radio link for the considered mobile unit directly with the selected narrow target beam. Consequently the system can perform the handover procedure using narrow beams only, without first establishing the radio link with a cell-wide beam and then reconfiguring the radio link onto a narrow beam.
