  • Patent number: 11042191
Abstract: A portable information handling system may attach to and support multiple detachable displays in a variety of configurations. A base of a portable information handling system may include a means for attaching to and supporting multiple displays, such as a channel for magnetically attaching to one or more bars of one or more displays. A user may operate the information handling system in a presentation configuration with one display facing towards the user and another display facing towards an audience. If the both displays are facing toward a user, the system can provide a user with an extended display area with more space to view and manipulate information. The second display may be detached from a top side and attached to a bottom side of a laptop for storage during transport.

  • Patent number: 11009966
Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an information handling system may include a user interface comprising an interface device, one or more sensors, each respective sensor configured to detect a respective parameter indicative of human proximity to the interface device, and a processor communicatively coupled to the user interface and the one or more sensors. The processor may be configured to in response to a physical interaction with the interface device, read information from the one or more sensors, determine whether the information from the one or more sensors satisfies a condition indicative of human proximity to the interface device, and process the physical interaction with the interface device based on whether the condition is satisfied.

  • Patent number: 10324499
Abstract: Systems and methods for active pop-up finger access in a portable information handling system. The portable system may include a housing having a first housing portion and a second housing portion rotationally coupled by a hinge. The first housing portion may include an electromagnet disposed proximate a front portion of the first housing portion. The second housing portion may include a finger access feature proximate a front portion of the second housing portion and a second magnet disposed proximate the front portion of the second housing portion. The processor may, when a sensor detects a finger of a user proximate the finger access feature, activate the electromagnet to create a magnetic repulsion force with the first magnet. The magnetic repulsion force may cause the portable information handling system to move from a closed position to a finger access open position.

  • Patent number: 8200852
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for utilizing multi-mode dongles with peripheral devices. The multi-mode dongles are configured to provide standard mode signals for a standard mode of operation and alternate mode signals for an alternate mode of operation, for example, where a host information handling system is unable to provide the alternate mode signals to the peripheral device. The multi-mode dongle receives mode control signals from a host information handling system and automatically switches from a standard mode of operation to an alternate mode of operation, where the alternate mode signals are provided to the peripheral device, based upon the mode control signals. In one embodiment, the multi-mode dongle can be configured for a universal serial bus (USB) port, and the alternate mode signals can be associated with charging a consumer electronics (CE) device.
