In the energy harvesting apparatus according to an embodiment, electrical energy can be generated by rotation of a blade by a slipstream generated during travel of a mobility vehicle. Electrical energy can be additionally generated by pressure and impact generated during rotation of the blade. When the blade is rotated at high speed as driving speed of the mobility vehicle increases, pressure and impact can be reduced, thereby preventing damage to the blade or a piezoelectric element and thus improving the durability thereof.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an apparatus for improving aerodynamic performance of a vehicle and a control method thereof. The apparatus is accommodated or deployed to control a flow of air around a wheel of the vehicle while the vehicle is driving. A housing is fastened to the bottom of the vehicle at a position in front of the wheel. A first flap is hinge-connected to the housing. A second flap is hinge-connected to the first flap and is movable in parallel to the bottom of the vehicle. A drive part moves the other end of the second flap. In response to the operation of the drive part, the first flap and the second flap are accommodated or deployed to control the flow of air around the wheel.

The apparatus for opening and closing an air flap may include a coolant temperature sensor provided at an engine to measure a coolant temperature of the engine, a control unit comparing a measurement value input from the coolant temperature sensor with a reference value stored therein, thus outputting a control signal, an actuator rotating in response to the control signal of the control unit, a power transmission unit connected to the actuator to transmit rotating force of the actuator, and a flap unit installed in an opening of a front end module carrier, and being selectively movable in a vertical direction in the opening by power transmitted from the power transmission unit to the flap unit to open or close the opening, thus permitting or preventing an inflow of air into the cooling module.
