    Abstract: This invention relates to glass containers with at least one plastic layer on the outer surface of the glass for protection wherein the outer surface of a glass container is coated with a material such as a tin or titanium compound to strengthen the glass. Then the glass is coated with a stearate or polyethylene friction reducing layer. Finally, the heated container is passed through a fluidized bed of plastic powder which adheres and melts on the container to provide the final outer plastic layer. This outer layer may alternatively be sprayed on as a powder by electrostatic means.
