  • Patent number: 5772437
Abstract: The invention relates to a screw-type securing element, made of titanium, for permanent anchoring in bone tissue, in particular for permanent anchoring of artificial teeth and dental bridges in the jaw bone, the securing element having an outer threaded portion which at the far top merges into a smooth, conical and/or cylindrical flange (5, 9). The thread end is such that the thread (1) in the periosteal part of the securing element merges into the flange (5, 9) via a cylindrical groove (7) which has the geometry of the threading die. By means of maintaining, in this way, a correct thread pitch and thread depth right up to the flange, a geometrically satisfactory match is obtained, in which the previously threaded hole matches the geometry of the thread right up to the flange, which means that the cortical bone can be better utilized.

  • Patent number: 5593444
Abstract: The invention relates to a spacing member arranged between a securing element (fixture) implanted in the facial bone (the cranium) and an extraoral prosthesis, in particular a facial prosthesis. The spacing member comprises a base portion (1) intended to cooperate with the upper portion of the securing element, and an extension part (8, 8') which forms an attachment point for the prosthesis. The extension part (8, 8') is designed in such a way that it permits attachment of the prosthesis in a direction (attachment direction) which forms essentially a right angle to the longitudinal direction of the extension part. The spacing member combines the two conflicting requirements which exist particularly in the case of an orbital prosthesis, namely secure anchoring in the bone (radial attachment of the securing elements) and a more favorable attachment direction (axial) for the prosthetic work.

  • Patent number: 5352183
Abstract: A device for stabilizing the base of the nipple valves in a continent ileal reservoir with inlet and outlet nipple valves, includes a substantially annular member made of a biocompatible material, the annular member being pre-formed and permanently shaped to substantially define a ring. The ring has a radial slot formed therein to allow insertion of the annular ring member over the base of a respective nipple valve, with the annular ring member having an inner radius adapted to fit around said base. The annular ring member has first and second surfaces, with one of the surfaces facing the ileal reservoir outer wall, and through holes extending through said first and second surfaces for promoting a good adherence of the device to the surrounding soft tissue.

  • Patent number: 5069622
Abstract: An angulated spacer element adapted is at its one end for attachment to a fixture having a threaded aperture and implanted in the jaw bone, and to support a dental prosthesis at the other end. The spacer element, which is a unitary member, has a first portion with an end surface thereof permitting abutting engagement with the protruding end of the implanted fixture. The first portion also has a through bore aligned with the threaded aperture in the fixture and defining an internal ledge to enable a screw to pass through the bore, abut the ledge and threadably engage the threaded aperture in the fixture. The first portion is adapted for locking the spacer element in a selectable one of a plurality of rotational, fixed positions in relation to the protruding portion of the fixture. The unitary spacer element also includes a second portion for supporting the dental prosthesis on the spacer element, the second portion forming an acute angle with respect to the through bore of the first portion.

  • Patent number: 4824372
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an apparatus for the fixation of a single-tooth restoration to an implant in the form of an anchorage element (fixture) permanently anchored in the maxillary, comprising a substantially tubular spacer (4) which is anchored to the anchorage element by means of a spacer screw (5) provided with an externally threaded portion (23) which engages in an internally threaded recess (7) in the upper region of the fixture. The spacer screw (5) is provided with an unthreaded waist (25) whose length exceeds the thread diameter of the spacer screw, and has a screw head (20) of comparatively slight diameter and with a planar or gently conical shoulder which cooperates with a corresponding annular shoulder (19) in the tubular spacer (4). The apparatus is mounted in place by means of a double screwdriver whose one part fits the internal counter-abutment in the spacer sleeve (4) and whose other part is caused to engage with the driver slot (24) of the screw head.

  • Patent number: 4763788
Abstract: The invention relates to a package for sterile and contamination free storage and transport of artificial implants (2), comprising a hermetically sealed outer casing (3) preferably made of glass, and an inner capsule to hold the implant, made of the same material as the implant (2) itself. The inner capsule comprises an open sleeve (1) preferably tubular, closed at one end by the implant (2) itself, so that the part (2a) of the implant which is intended for tissue integration is sealed by the sleeve (1).

  • Patent number: 4160321
Abstract: A portable gas-motor-driven cutting implement has a motor unit combined with a fuel tank and supporting a tool carrier. The cutting implement is provided with a curved front handle member extending substantially transversely of the tool carrier and a rear handle at the rear of the motor unit. The front handle member and the rear handle form parts of a rigid, closed supporting frame connected to the motor unit by three widely spaced resilient members, two of which are arranged at the front of the motor unit while the third is arranged at the rear of the motor unit.
