  • Publication number: 20070195746
Abstract: Techniques for implementing systems and methods for topology management, power control and cross-layer design in directional antenna-based wireless mobile ad hoc networks are described. A multiple access control (MAC) system for a directional antenna and time division multiple access communication (DTMAC) node includes a neighbor discovery computer process designed to identify one or more neighbor nodes. The MAC system also includes a make reservation computer process designed to identify and reserve at least one transmission time slot with at least one of the one or more identified neighbor nodes. Further, the MAC system includes a data transmission computer process designed to transmit data to the at least one of the one or more identified neighbor nodes during the at least one reserved transmission time slot.

  • Publication number: 20060128677
Abstract: The present invention provides compositions and methods for prevention and prophylaxis of neurological diseases accompanied by neuronal death. The invention includes synthesis of 5-benzylamino salicylic acid (BAS) and its derivatives. BAS and its derivatives protect cortical neurons from toxic insults by N-methyl-D-aspartate, Zn2+, and reactive oxygen species. Thus, the present invention provides compositions and methods for treating stroke, traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative diseases that are accompanied by severe neuronal loss via excitotoxicity, Zn2+ neurotoxicity, and free radical neurotoxicity.

  • Publication number: 20060049045
Abstract: Disclosed is a three electrodes system cell for evaluation of performance of a molten carbonate fuel cell. A lower part of the reference electrode is fixed to a wet seal part of the single cell without penetrating a current collector plate and an electrode of the single cell. Preferably, the reference electrode comprises cured matrix slurry and powders of electrolyte stacked on the matrix slurry in the lower part thereof. Preferably, a diameter of an electrolyte-interchanging hole formed in a bottom of the lower part of the reference electrode is 1?. Preferably, an outer diameter of an alumina tube in the reference electrode is 6?. According to a three electrodes system cell for evaluation of performance of a molten carbonate fuel cell of the invention, it is possible to separately evaluate the performance of each electrode which cannot be evaluated by the prior method of evaluating the performance of the single cell.

  • Patent number: 6847633
Abstract: A method, apparatus, article of manufacture, and a memory structure communicating information, particularly information transferred to and from an Internet host. The apparatus comprises a radio port control unit, comprising a router, and a stub. The router is communicatively coupled to transmit and receive messages with an Internet host and communicatively coupled to a packet forwarding module to accept SU-sourced messages and to provide SU-addressed messages to the packet forwarding module in a first data transfer protocol. The stub is coupled between the router and the packet forwarding module to translate messages from the first data transfer protocol to a second data transfer protocol and to translate messages from the second data transfer protocol to the first data transfer protocol.

  • Patent number: 6741575
Abstract: A method, apparatus, article of manufacture, and a memory structure for multicasting data in a cellular personal access communication system is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of allocating a multicast packet terminal identifier to a multicast group when a subscriber unit in a cell requests membership in the multicast group, receiving a multicast packet having a global multicast address, determining a cell identifier from a mapping of the global multicast address to at least one local multicast identifier and a cell identifier, and forwarding the multicast packet to the cell according to the cell identifier. The apparatus comprises a radio port controller unit having a packet data control unit coupled to a radio port configured to receive a multicast packet and a packet forwarding module. The packet data control unit includes an allocation module configured to allocate a local multicast identifier to a multicast group when a subscriber unit in a cell requests membership in the multicast group.
