  • Publication number: 20230386313
Abstract: A method of operating a sensing component for sensing a magnetic field to determine a state of an access point having a first component and a second component that are separable from each other to create an opening and wherein a magnet is mounted on one of the first or second components of the access point, wherein the method comprises: operating the sensing component to sense a magnetic field in multiple dimensions to produce a sample representation of the sensed magnetic field, wherein the sample representation is a multi-dimensional representation and determining whether the sample representation is in a pre-determined region about a reference representation that is representative of a state of an access point to determine that the sensed magnetic field corresponds to said state of the access point, wherein the pre-determined region comprises a circular cross-section.

  • Publication number: 20230375685
Abstract: Methods of defining a virtual fence and for detecting a body inside or outside a region of interest defined by the virtual fence and/or of determining a height for a body on a surface in a region of interest use radar signals and a configuration mode and a monitoring mode are disclosed. In the configuration mode coordinates for defining a virtual fence are determined and/or a topology of a surface in the region of interest is determined. In the monitoring mode, a location of a second body on the surface is detected to determine if the second body is inside or outside the virtual fence and/or a height of for the second body relative to the determined topology is determined.

  • Publication number: 20230196896
Abstract: A method comprising: controlling an active reflected wave detector to measure wave reflections from an environment using a first frame rate to accrue measured wave reflection data for a classifier, after a first amount of time, determining whether a predefined criteria is satisfied, wherein satisfaction of the predefined criteria is indicative of the classifier being likely to successfully identify a fall status of a person in the environment by a second amount of time of accruing measured wave reflection data from the active reflected wave detector, the second amount of time being greater than the first amount of time; in the event that the predefined criteria is not met, the method comprising controlling the active reflected wave detector to accrue measured wave reflection data at a lower second frame rate for classifying the fall status based on measured wave reflection data accrued at the lower second rate.

  • Publication number: 20230055654
Abstract: Embodiments relate to using an active reflected wave detector to classify the state of a person in an environment and optionally respond accordingly. In one embodiment there is provided a computer implemented method of determining a state of a person comprising: receiving an output of an active reflected wave detector; classifying a state of the person as being in a safe supported state based on the output using measurements of reflections associated with the person, wherein said classifying is based at least on: a height metric associated with at least one reflection from the person conveyed in the output of the active reflected wave detector; and a plurality of velocity magnitude measurements of the person corresponding to different times, each of said velocity magnitude measurements determined using the reflections associated with the person conveyed in the output of the active reflected wave detector.
