Abstract: A dependent patient transfer device is described for transporting a patient from one support (e.g., a bed) to another support (e.g., a commode). The device includes a wheeled frame and a seating portion. The seat is movable between a first position for supporting the patient in a seated position and a second position where the seat is out of the pathway of the patient during loading or unloading. The transfer device is sturdy, efficient, and easy to use. It enables heavy care dependent patients to be readily transported.
