    Abstract: A latching assembly to couple a first mandrel to a second mandrel is disclosed. The latching assembly includes a plurality of wedge members disposed circumferentially and a guide plate. Each wedge member may include a semi-annular wedge body, an upper engagement lip, a lower engagement lip, and a guide pin. The guide plate may include a plurality of guide slots to translate and rotate the plurality of wedge members via the respective guide pins. Because the plurality of wedge members can be translated and rotated to lock and release the first mandrel to and from the second mandrel, the latching assembly can simplify the connection and disconnection of a first mandrel with the second mandrel.

The figures and art described herein show that this novel feature can increase the speed and usefulness of dispatching tools down a well bore, and also decrease down time to install or retrieve these devices. This UADD also removes personnel from the hazardous area, allowing for remote deployment of tools and devices.

    Abstract: An extendable spool is disclosed. The length of the extendable spool is able to continuously varied. The extendable spool accounts for length variances in flow lines by extending the flow line rather than redirecting the flow. Because the flow direction does not make any turns, erosion is minimized on both the extendable spool and downstream parts. The extendable spool is readily scalable from small diameters to large diameters. Because of this, it requires fewer lines and therefore less setup time to account for length differences between large diameter lines.

In an exemplary embodiment, the wellhead isolation tool includes a lock assembly with a mandrel head with a longitudinally extending annular sleeve. The inner surface of the mandrel head is connected to the mandrel and adapted to sealingly engage the mandrel. The outer surface of the mandrel head also sealingly engages with a seal pack within the wellhead isolation tool, and the mandrel head is configured such that the point of the connection between the mandrel and mandrel head is axially located below the engagement with the seal pack.

    Abstract: An improved ball drop apparatus including an atmosphere-to-pressure frac ball injection chamber. A ball is first inserted into the atmosphere-to-pressure ball injection chamber from a ball feeding apparatus. The ball is then pushed into a pressure equalization section through a first seal pack. In a preferred embodiment, the pressure equalization section is connected to a pressure equalization apparatus and also to the wellbore through a second seal pack. Once the ball is injected into the pressure equalization section, the pressure equalization apparatus applies pressure, thereby causing the pressure of the pressure equalization section to increase until it reaches close to wellbore pressure. Once the pressures of the pressure equalization section and the wellbore are close, the atmosphere-to-pressure frac ball injection chamber and the frac ball are pushed through the second seal pack and into the wellbore, where the frac ball can be pumped downhole.
