  • Patent number: 12159986
Abstract: A vehicle includes an energy storage system, a battery cooling system, and a thermal event management system. The energy storage system includes a battery arranged within a battery housing. The battery cooling system includes a first conduit positioned internal to the battery housing and adjacent the battery. The first conduit is configured to facilitate circulating a first fluid through the battery housing to thermally regulate the battery. The thermal event management system includes a second conduit with a fluid diverter positioned therealong. The second conduit is positioned adjacent to at least one of the battery or the battery housing. The second conduit is configured to receive a second fluid. The fluid diverter is configured to facilitate selectively providing fluid communication between the second conduit and the battery housing so that the second fluid flows out of the second conduit and at least one of into or around the battery housing.

  • Patent number: 12155049
Abstract: An electrified vehicle includes a chassis, an energy storage system supported by the chassis, and a battery cooling system. The energy storage system includes a battery positioned within a battery housing. The battery cooling system includes a conduit positioned adjacent at least one of the battery or the battery housing and a fluid diverter positioned along the conduit. The fluid diverter is configured to facilitate selectively providing fluid communication between the conduit and the battery housing so that a fluid flowing through the conduit flows out of the conduit and at least one of into or around the battery housing.

  • Publication number: 20240058634
Abstract: An electrified vehicle includes an energy storage system including a battery disposed within a battery housing and a control system. The control system is configured to detect an onset of a battery thermal event during a charging session of the energy storage system with an external power supply, in response to the onset of the battery thermal event being detected, perform a first action, and in response to the battery thermal event continuing to progress following the first action, perform a second action.

  • Publication number: 20240063470
Abstract: A battery flooding system includes a flood port and an elongated connector. The flood port is configured to be fluidly coupled to a battery housing of an electrified vehicle. The elongated connector is configured to interface with the flood port to facilitate providing a fluid to the flood port from a fluid source such that the fluid is provided within the battery housing.

  • Publication number: 20240059151
Abstract: An electrified fire fighting vehicle includes an energy storage system, a water tank configured to store water, a pump fluidly coupled to the water tank, a motor electrically coupled to the energy storage system and mechanically coupled to the pump, and a control system. The control system is configured to detect an onset of a thermal event in the energy storage system, control the motor to drive the pump such that the water can be recirculated out of and back into the water tank to facilitate draining a state of charge of the energy storage system, and provide a notification to electrically couple the energy storage system to an external load to facilitate draining the state of charge of the energy storage system.

  • Publication number: 20240063457
Abstract: An electrified vehicle includes a chassis, a body coupled to the chassis, a battery enclosure supported by the chassis and defining an internal volume, a battery disposed within the internal volume, and a flood port accessible from an exterior of the electrified vehicle. The flood port is in direct or indirect fluid communication with the internal volume. The flood port is configured to receive a fluid from a fluid source and supply the fluid to the internal volume to cool the battery.
