  • Patent number: 7290732
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods for cutting and spooling paper are described. In one embodiment, a system for cutting a traveling web of paper that is being wound onto a first spool and transferring the paper web onto a second spool by feeding turn-up tape into a nip between the second spool and the paper web, comprises a transfer track for transporting the turn-up tape beneath the paper web and to a position adjacent to the nip, and a drive assembly capable of driving the turn-up tape along the transfer track toward the nip, wherein the drive is capable of being powered by manual power or motor power.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 23, 2004
Date of Patent: November 6, 2007
    Assignee: M.A. Industries, Inc.
Inventors: Bryan Nathan Wilmoth, William Russell Stitcher, Joseph K. Popwell, Bobbie D. Peacock

  • Patent number: 6416012
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are provided for cutting a traveling web of paper that is being spooled on a full spool and transferring the paper web to spool on an empty spool by driving turn-up tape into a nip between the empty spool and the paper web. The apparatuses and methods provide a more problem free way of transferring a traveling paper web to an empty spool.

  • Patent number: 6315077
Abstract: A frangible insert that is inserted in a pre-positioned bushing in the wall of a manhole form from the convex, easily reached side of the inner form wall. A key in the insert is received in a keyway in the bushing in the form wall so that the insert is properly oriented in the form. Concrete is then poured into the form, enveloping and affixing the insert within the man hole wall. A weakened, frangible region is provided on the insert in a position immediately adjacent to the form wall so that after the concrete is cured, the manhole and form can simply be separated, causing the portion of the insert embedded in the concrete to separate from the insert portion in the form bushing.

  • Patent number: 6109587
Abstract: A manhole lift insert positioning apparatus consisting of: (1) a threaded nut imbedded in a thermoplastic elastomer molding that fits snugly within a lift insert, and (2) a threaded wing bolt to engage the nut and expand the molding within the insert, thereby locking it in position and drawing the molding against the inside face of the concrete form, thus sealing the insert opening to avoid obstruction of that opening with concrete.

  • Patent number: 5255859
Abstract: Classifying and processing post-consumer plastic scrap materials for subsequent utilization. Post-consumer plastic scrap of various kinds, such as colored HDPE, natural HDPE, green PET and clear PET are separating into constituent fractions, and each fraction is separately reduced to flakes. At least some of the fractions are separately washed to remove fragments of labels or other foreign matter previously in place on the plastic bottles or other containers making up those scrap constituents.

  • Patent number: 4534225
Abstract: A method and apparatus for supporting concrete testing samples comprising providing closely machined aluminum, steel, or suitable molded plastic caps for the respective circular ends of a cylindrical concrete testing sample and removable, reusable flanged molded elastomeric pads which are inserted in a recessed cavity in each cap prior to positioning of the cap on the respective end of the concrete cylinder. Each pad has a space between the bottom and the side to provide at least an equivalency between sulfur capped cylinder compression load strengths and those generated by the above system over the wide range of compression load values normally occurring in this particular test.

  • Patent number: 4100997
Abstract: A molded plastic fastener of the sort which may be used as part of steps for a concrete manhole has molded plastic, circular threads or projections which are tapered and deformable so that when inserted in a drilled hole of slightly smaller diameter the projections will be deformed and bend under pressure to retain the fastener in place.

  • Patent number: 4053134
Abstract: Concrete pipe is molded between concentric steel cylindrical shells in which there are openings on each side receiving plastic inserts defining respective keyed cavities that remain in the molded concrete pipe after curing and removal of the concentric steel shells so that large keyed eye-bolts may be inserted in the respective keyed inserts. The initial positioning of the plastic mold keyed insert is accomplished by means of a keyed plastic plunger mounted on an attaching plate which includes notches on each side to fit over attaching screws on each side of the outside steel shell. The plunger has a keyed end. The hollow plastic insert with a soft gasket around the top has a keyed plunger inserted under pressure therein for removal therefrom and replacement by the eye-bolt after the curing of the pipe is completed.
