Abstract: A hollow-core fiber that is composed of a phthalyl substituted cellulose ester polymer having a degree of substitution of phthalyl moieties of greater than about 0.13. The hollow-core fiber is useful as an absorbent or fluid transfer member in an absorbent device such as catamenial devices, bandages, diapers, incontinence articles, training pants, bed pads, sweat absorbing pads, skin cleansing pads, hard surface cleansing pads, shoe pads, helmet liners, absorbent devices for surgical and dental purposes, air and water filtration devices, and industrial spill and leak absorbents.

Abstract: An enteric coating for a solid pharmaceutical carrier or substrate wherein the enteric coating includes a cellulosic polymeric material selected from selected from the group consisting of hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, methyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose, cellulose acetate, cellulose acetate butyrate, cellulose acetate phthalate, cellulose acetate succinate, cellulose acetate propionate, cellulose acetate trimellitate, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose phthalate, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose succinate, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose acetate succinate, cellulose acetate succinate butyrate, cellulose acetate succinate propionate, carboxymethylcellulose sodium, cellulose butyrate, and mixtures thereof and a plasticizer selected from a water-soluble preparation of a fat-soluble vitamin. A preferred plasticizer is Vitamin E polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate.

Abstract: A filtration device useful as a personal filtration mask, home air filter, air moving equipment filter, and breathing air compressor intake filters. The filtration medium includes from 0.001 to 100% of at least one prophylactic compound. A method for reducing the amount of bacteria in a fluid stream is described using the filter device of the present invention.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a TPGS article having a weight no greater than 1 gram and a tackiness no greater than about 1550 grams. In addition, the present invention relates to a process for producing said TPGS articles.
