Publication number: 20080181649Abstract: A method for analyzing a print/copy job is disclosed. In this method, an actual page count of a print/copy job is recorded, and a total toner coverage for the print/copy job is compiled. Then, a total toner coverage page count is obtained via a computation using a predetermined threshold value and the total toner coverage, wherein the predetermined threshold value is an amount of a toner coverage for a print/copy page under normal fare, and when the actual page count of the print/copy job is less than the total toner coverage page count, a toner coverage adjustment page count is equal to the total toner coverage page count. Thereafter, a report is produced in accordance with the print/copy job.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2007Publication date: July 31, 2008Inventors: Bobo Wang, Shih-Liang Chang

Publication number: 20040213595Abstract: The present invention provides a limited capacity image-forming machine that forms a predetermined and limited number of images at which time the limited capacity image-forming machine must then either be reprogrammed or serviced by the manufacturer in order to form additional images. In one embodiment the image-forming machine includes a limited supply of consumables, such as developer or substrate, wherein the consumables cannot be replenished by the user. By preventing a user from replenishing the consumables, the image-forming machine can only form a predetermined and limited number of images. In one embodiment, the image-forming machine is programmed to form a predetermined and limited number of images.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2003Publication date: October 28, 2004Inventor: Bobo Wang

Patent number: 6724506Abstract: An imaging system includes an imaging subsystem for forming an image on a sheet, a tray for holding a supply of sheets, a ramp for directing a sheet from the tray into a paper path, a sensor in the vicinity of the paper path, a drive assembly and a processor connected to the drive assembly and the sensor. The drive assembly includes a movable roller configured to move the sheet into the paper path by moving a top sheet of a supply of sheets in the tray to the ramp. The sensor is configured to detect a sheet traveling in the paper path from the tray and to provide an output signal in response to the detection. The processor is configured to control movement of the roller, to receive and store an initial sheet level value, to receive the output signal from the sensor and to calculate a time, t, from activating the drive assembly to receiving the sensor output signal and to accordingly adjust the initial sheet level value.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2000Date of Patent: April 20, 2004Assignee: Aetas Technology, IncorporatedInventor: Bobo Wang

Publication number: 20030151775Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and system for tracking a photoconductor belt loop in an image forming apparatus that effectively monitors and compensates for changes in the OPC belt's speed and position as well as for possible contamination of the code strip and damage to the photo sensors. There is provided a method and system for sensing a code strip on the photoconductor belt loop with a first sensor, producing a first signal, sensing a code strip on the photoconductor belt loop with a second sensor, producing a second signal, computing a phase shift error between the first and second signals; and synchronizing first and second signals.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2002Publication date: August 14, 2003Applicant: Aetas Technology Inc.Inventors: Bobo Wang, Sheng-Jenq Chang, Chun-Chiang Chen

Publication number: 20030011795Abstract: A belt exhibits non-uniform motion in directions transverse, diagonal, or at an angle from the belt travel path. The present invention monitors belt motion changes in the organic photoconductor belt's changes in speed and position in directions not parallel to the organic photoconductor belt's direction of travel. By comparing discrepancies between velocities in orthogonal directions, the exposure light sources for forming a latent image on the organic photoconductor belt can be shifted to accommodate non-uniform motion.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 27, 2001Publication date: January 16, 2003Inventors: Bobo Wang, Po Chih Wang

Patent number: 6487376Abstract: An upgradeable imaging system includes a housing with an opening. A support structure and a plurality of imaging stations are disposed within the housing. Each imaging station includes a charging unit and a developing unit. The imaging system also includes a removable module with a photoreceptive substrate. The removable module has an interior space defined within the photoreceptive substrate and at least one exposing unit disposed within the interior space. The removable module is configured to be engageable with the support structure and passable through the opening of the housing. When the removable module is engaged with the support structure, the photoreceptive substrate is disposed operatively adjacent to the imaging stations. Accordingly, the removable module may be removed from the imaging system and replaced with another module. The imaging system includes circuitry for configuring the imaging stations to operate according to a printing routine depending upon the number of exposing units.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2001Date of Patent: November 26, 2002Assignee: Aetas Technology, IncorporatedInventors: Bobo Wang, Jon Hu

Patent number: 6191801Abstract: A color electrophotographic apparatus which can achieve full color image reproduction with one-pass developing is disclosed. According to the present invention, a flexible photoconductor is formed as an endless belt driven by a set of rollers. Developers of various colors are projected onto a surface of the photoconductor from a plurality of developing units. After the projection of the color developers is achieved, the resultant full color toner image is transferred to a recording medium. The toner image is then fused onto the recording medium, thereby reproducing the full color image. The flexible photoconductor is arranged to have a planar surface between the two rollers, with the four optical exposure units positioned to direct four parallel beams of light in a direction perpendicular to the planar printing surface of the photoconductor.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1997Date of Patent: February 20, 2001Assignee: Aetas Peripheral CorporationInventors: Yuji Hiraoka, Bobo Wang

Patent number: 5899609Abstract: A developing unit includes a housing enclosing a mesh belt stretched across first and second rollers. The belt passes between a pair of friction plates that can be used to tribocharge toner particles carries on the mesh belt. Charging occurs over the large width of the entire mesh belt and the friction plates. Toner is transported on the surface of the mesh belt to a developing roller which, in turn, transports the toner to the surface of a photoconductor. The configuration of this developing unit reduces the loading associated with the tribocharging operation and the belt transport system reduces the volume of the developing unit.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1997Date of Patent: May 4, 1999Assignee: Aetas Peripheral CorporationInventor: Bobo Wang
