  • Patent number: 6719376
Abstract: A process for braking a vehicle having at least first and second brakes, comprises supplying energy to the first and second brakes so as to actuate them, the energy being distributed between the first and second brakes in accordance with the brakes' response energies. Preferably, the momentary values of the response energies are used so that the first and second brakes are actuated simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 6264289
Abstract: Implementation of a travel dynamics control system in a vehicle is facilitated by integration of same with other operational components of an electrically controlled vehicle braking system. In an embodiment of the invention, travel dynamics electronics are integrated with the braking system electronics. In another embodiment, a yawing speed sensor and a transverse acceleration sensor are integrated with the travel dynamics electronics.

  • Patent number: 6203115
Abstract: A control system for a vehicle braking systems includes an electronic control system and a brake signal transmitter having at least one circuit actuatable by a driver of the vehicle. Each circuit of the brake signal transmitter transmits an electrical brake signal having a value which is dependent upon an actuating force and/or an actuating stroke supplied to the brake signal transmitter. The electronic control system emits at least one electrical brake actuating signal which is dependent upon the electrical brake signal transmitted by the brake signal transmitter. An electronics block which includes at least a portion of the electronic control system is provided. The brake signal transmitter and the electronics block are integrated into a combined component.

  • Patent number: 5681992
Abstract: A process to determine the response pressure of a brake in a braking system of a vehicle comprises: measuring the existing vehicle deceleration of the vehicle to determine a value of ground-vehicle deceleration, supplying a test pressure to the brake, measuring the deceleration of the vehicle after the test pressure has been supplied to the brake to determine a value of vehicle test deceleration, and comparing the value of ground-vehicle deceleration and the value of vehicle test deceleration. If the value of vehicle test deceleration is greater than the value of ground-vehicle deceleration by more than a predetermined tolerance value, the steps of the process are repeated with a reduced test pressure until the difference between the values of ground-vehicle deceleration and vehicle test deceleration is no more than the predetermined tolerance value.

  • Patent number: 5470134
Abstract: A method of wear-dependent braking force distribution prevents adhesion problems without being limited to lowest brake pressures as is the case with conventional methods. Wear control is dispensed with only in the case of operationally very rare braking actions, for example, those above 0.3 g or a learned adhesion threshold. These rare braking actions are limited, in practice, to genuinely critical braking situations. Otherwise, the control interventions are carried out with to produce balanced wear only in the long term; an attempt is made to achieve wear at the same rate rather than simply balanced wear.

  • Patent number: 5409301
Abstract: A method is provided to determine an optimized value of the brake pressure ratio between a tractor and a trailer or semitrailer. In particular, an increased value of the brake pressure of the trailer or semitrailer in relation to the brake pressure resulting from the position of the brake pedal is supplied for a particular duration at the beginning of a braking operation. The increase of the brake pressure of the trailer or semitrailer takes place as a function of the brake pressure, p.sub.Anh, resulting from the position of the brake pedal. In braking operations when a tractor is travelling without a trailer or semitrailer, an allocation of the achieved deceleration, z.sub.ist, to the brake pressure p.sub.Zug of the tractor is stored as a function of the load state of the tractor.
