Abstract: The invention relates to water-thinnable baking paints, the use thereof as filler material and intermediate stone chip resistant coat as well as a process for painting motor vehicle bodies.The water-thinnable baking paints comprise as binders a combination of(I) 20 to 70% by weight of a water-thinnable polyurethane resin with an acid value of 15 to 35,(II) 20 to 70% by weight of an epoxy resin-modified water-thinnable polyester which can be prepared by reacting a polyester (A) with a molecular weight (number average) below 2000, an acid value of 35-240 and a hydroxyl value of 56-320, with 0.3 to 1.

Abstract: The invention relates to dispersions which are obtainable from sheet silicates, a protective colloid and an aqueous dispersant and are suitable for the incorporation of sheet silicates into water-dilutable coating compositions. The dispersions according to the invention are obtainable using poly(propylene oxide) as the protective colloid, and the poly(propylene oxide) contains no hydrophobic terminal groups, has on average at least one hydroxyl group per molecule and may optionally contain up to 40% by weight of --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --O-- units.

Abstract: Two-component polyurethane sealants, in particular for the direct glazing of motor vehicles, comprising (A) a pasty polyurethane component containing a polyurethane prepolymer having free isocyanate groups, and a curing agent, and (B) a pasty water-containing component, component (A) containing a blocked curing agent which can be liberated by water, and component (B) containing the water, reversibly bonded to a carrier substance which liberates the water in a delayed manner after components (A) and (B) have been mixed.

Abstract: The invention relates to water-dilutable coating compositions which contain a binder, an aluminum pigment and an aqueous diluent. The water-dilutable coating compositions according to the invention are distinguished in that they contain, as the aluminum pigment, a pigment which has been obtained by passivating a lubricant-containing aluminum pigment in an aqueous passivating solution which contains chromic acid and a water-soluble glycol ether of the general formula R.sup.1 --(--O--CHR.sup.2 --CH.sub.2 --).sub.n --OH (R.sup.1 represents a lower alkyl radical, R.sup.2 represents either an H atom or a lower alkyl radical, preferably a --CH.sub.3 group, and n represents a number from 1 to 5) and/or a water-soluble glycol of the general formula HO--(CHR.sup.3 --CH.sub.2 --O--).sub.n H (R.sup.3 represents either an H atom or a lower alkyl radical, preferably a --CH.sub.3 group, and n represents a number from 1 to 5), at not less than 50.degree. C., preferably 60.degree. to 90.degree. C.

Abstract: The homogeneity of highly reactive polycondensates is improved in a process involving batch operations in a reactor, followed by extrusion and then cooling by a coolant to the point of solidification after which the polycondensates are milled and removed. The cooling is carried out with a low-boiling liquified gas.
