    Abstract: A device for retaining a functional part, for example, a roof handle, in a vehicle is provided that includes a retaining element to which the functional part can be indirectly or directly fixed. The retaining element has at least one retaining element-side hinge region around which a retaining element portion can be folded and/or pivoted relative to a further retaining element portion when a pressure force acts substantially toward the retaining element. The at least one hinge region, as viewed in cross-section, can be formed by a retaining element profile section projecting from the retaining element plane, which section, when a pressure force acts on the retaining element folds open or closed about a folding axis and/or a pivot axis formed on the profile section side.
