  • Publication number: 20110096766
Abstract: A transceiver circuit and a method in a wireless communication network are provided, where a signal power level for a signal received at the transceiver circuit is measured and compared to a predefined threshold power level. At least two groups of power amplifiers may be used, where one group is optimized for high efficiency above the predefined threshold power level, and one group is optimized for high efficiency below the predefined threshold power level. The amplifiers may be used to amplify the received signal depending on the signal power level in relation to the predefined power threshold level. The signal may then be filtered by duplex filters and forwarded to a diversity antenna or a main antenna where it is transmitted over an air interface.

  • Publication number: 20090180403
Abstract: A multi-band, multi-mode radio frequency (RF) front-end module is capable of operating in widely different frequency bands, including at least one of the following frequency ranges: 700 megahertz (MHz), 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz, 2.1 gigahertz (GHz) or 2.4 GHz. The multi-band, multi-mode RF front-end module is also capable of operating according to different mobile communication standards, including at least one of the following standards: GSM, WCDMA, EDGE or LTE. The multi-band, multi-mode RF front-end module includes a plurality of broadband amplifiers, a plurality of transmit (TX) paths selectively connectible to respective broadband power amplifiers; and a plurality of switches. One switch is selectively operable to couple one plurality of TX paths to one broadband power amplifier operable to amplify TX signals within one range of frequencies.

  • Publication number: 20080132265
Abstract: A method, a mobile station, a base station and a computer program product operating in a wireless communication network is described, where an RX diversity circuit is only switched on if the current consumption caused by an increase in output power from the transmitter in order to meet a signal quality target in the receiver would lead to a higher current consumption than the switching on of an RX diversity circuit in the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20070161357
Abstract: The invention relates to a multiband antenna switch, and more particularly an antenna switch implemented in the radio interface of a mobile telephone device. The antenna switch comprises a power amplifier module with an antenna port 1 connectable to an antenna, and at least one input port connectable to a transmitter section of a transceiver 5; a front end module connectable to the antenna port and a reception section of a transceiver; wherein said power amplifier module and said front end module are capable of covering a number of frequency bands. The transmission/reception duplexing function is obtained by means of a circulator 6, 7 or a power splitter arrangement. The antenna switch offers a packed solution for using four GSM and eight WCDMA bands in the same phone.
