  • Patent number: 9583284
Abstract: There is provided a tap changer in which movable contacts rotate to be selectively connected to a plurality of taps. The tap changer includes a rotatable upper movable contact; a rotatable lower movable contact electrically connected to the upper movable contact; a driving shaft rotating the upper movable contact and the lower movable contact integrally; a single-type fixed contact including a single terminal connected to any one of a plurality of taps; and a dual-type fixed contact including a first terminal and a second terminal connected together to another of the plurality of taps. Since the upper movable contact and the lower movable contact are integrally rotated through the single driving shaft, the number of components and volume of the device may be reduced and an operation of the device may be facilitated.

  • Patent number: 7675719
Abstract: The present invention provides a current limiting module and a hybrid current limiter using different kinds of superconducting wires. The current limiting module includes a first superconducting wire that is wound in a predetermined direction, and a second superconducting wire that has quench characteristic different from the first superconducting wire and is wound to generate magnetic flux in a direction opposite to magnetic flux induced by the first superconducting wire. According to the present invention, inductance is generated due to unequal supply of fault current. Therefore, it is possible to prevent current from being suddenly increased, and to reduce the number of superconducting wires required to manufacture the current limiting module. Further, the hybrid current limiter does not need to include a separate coil for operating a fast switch.

  • Patent number: 7463461
Abstract: A superconducting fault current limiter includes a first superconducting module connected to an input terminal of a power system, a second superconducting module connected to an output terminal of the power system, and a connecting member interposed between the first and second superconducting modules. The first superconducting module and the second superconducting module each include two superconducting coils. The input terminal is connected to an end of the first superconducting module, and the output terminal is connected to an end of the second superconducting module. The end of the second superconducting module is disposed geometrically opposite the end of the first superconducting module.

  • Publication number: 20060268471
Abstract: Provided is a superconducting fault current limiter capable of reducing a fault current in a power application field, such as a lossless power transmission line, a superconductive magnet for generating a strong or very stable magnetic field, an energy storage, a motor, a generator, and so on, of generating or transporting a large amount of current, and a traffic application field such as a superconducting magnetic levitation train, a superconducting propulsion ship, and so on. In accordance with the present invention, after the inner bobbin is disposed in the outer bobbin, the wires are wound around the inner and outer bobbins to be connected through the current introduction terminal in directions opposite to each other to thereby constitute the superconducting module, and the module is symmetrically formed through the connecting member, thereby completing the current limiter.

  • Patent number: 7078991
Abstract: Provided is a superconducting coil capable of reducing a magnetic field perpendicularly irradiated to a wide surface of a superconducting wire composing a coil of a superconducting electric device by winding a low current density coil, driven with a current density lower than that flowing through a main coil, on a line extending from the main coil. The superconducting coil includes: a main coil driven with a current density flowing by entering current; and a low current density coil located on a line extending from upper and lower ends of the main coil, and series connected to a coil having the same shape as a portion of the main coil to be driven with a current density lower than that flowing through the main coil.
