  • Publication number: 20200016920
Abstract: A file folder having front and back covers delineated from each other by a spine therebetween is formed with a pocket located at the outboard edge of at least one of the front and back covers. The pocket has closures at the top and bottom edges and also at the outboard edge of the cover upon which it is formed. The pocket has a mouth that opens toward the spine. At least one lock wing is formed by a patch of stiff material having a fixed portion secured to the cover having the pocket at the spine. The lock wing also has a free portion that extends toward the mouth of the pocket and forms an acute angle with the cover to which the lock wing is secured. Papers, media, or other contents can be inserted into the open mouth of the pocket and the lock wing can be resiliently flexed to receive the inboard extremity of the pocket contents beneath it. The contents of the pocket are thereby securely held in the pocket by the constraints of the pocket closures and the lock wing.

  • Patent number: 7306134
Abstract: A multipocket document folder may be formed from a primary sheet of stiff, flexible flat stock by die cutting and folding so as to create front and back covers for the folder, each having a separate pocket on its inside surface. The primary sheet of flat stock is die cut to form a rectangular portion on which the front and back covers are delineated, and separate front and back cover pocket flaps projecting from the front and back covers, either from the sides or bottoms thereof. Pocket securing projections are also formed on the primary sheet of flat stock and extending in directions perpendicular to the front and back pocket cover flaps. In this way the front and back cover pocket flaps are foldable in a first direction relative to the spine of the folder into facing relationship to the front and back covers.

  • Patent number: 6964537
Abstract: A single sheet report cover is folded to create a top cover sheet, a bottom cover sheet, a narrow binding margin panel extending a short distance from a spine fold, and a return panel folded under the binding margin panel at a return fold. An elongated document binder clasp is provided with a pair of mutually facing jaws that define a gap therebetween. At least one of the jaws has a hooked lip. The document binder clasp is pressed on to the portion of the document binder covering the binding margin of a stack of papers encased therewithin. The hooked lip of one of the jaws of the clasp engages the return fold and the resilient clamping force of the jaws is sufficient to prevent either the document binder or the sheets held between the top and bottom covers formed by the binder from being pulled away from the clasp.

  • Patent number: 6796428
Abstract: An expanding, portable envelope for use in transporting papers compartmentalized into organized sections is formed of a base sheet and a divider sheet. The two sheets are secured by a pair of transverse lines of sealing across the bottom of the envelope. A pair of divider panels is thereby created from a single divider sheet. Moreover, the bottoms of the pockets created between the divider sheets and the front and rear panels formed from the base sheet are closed, so that papers cannot slip down underneath the divider panels. The base sheet defines side panels that extend from one of the front and rear panels, and are heat sealed to the other. Bottom attachment tongues formed as extensions from the side panels are directed inwardly toward each other at the bottom of the envelope and are also permanently attached to the divider sheet so as to close and reinforce the bottom corners of the expanding envelope.
