  • Patent number: 5791690
Abstract: A holder for soft-covered documents has first and second components that are both formed of sheetlike materials secured together. The first component forms one of a pair of document covers, either the front or the back cover, and a first attachment strip along an edge of that document cover. The first component also includes a flat, elongated document retaining strip that defines within its structure an elongated document slot. The slot receives some of the pages of a document therethrough such that some of the pages reside on one side of the document retaining strip while the remainder of the pages reside on the other side of the document retaining strip. The first component also includes a first elongated hinge that secures a first attachment strip of the first component to the document retaining strip. The second component forms the other cover and a second attachment strip that is delineated from the other cover by a second hinge.

  • Patent number: 5727816
Abstract: A document cover of simple construction conceals and shields the fasteners that are customarily employed in binding a stack of pages of uniform size together along a binding margin. The document cover is formed of a plurality of panels including a broad top cover panel located atop the stack and residing in contact with the top sheet of the stack. The document cover also includes at least a narrow top concealment panel attached to either the top cover panel or the back panel by at least one spine fold. The top concealment panel extends from the binding edge of the stack of pages cross the binding margin of the stack. The document cover includes at least a single layer of adhesive secured to the stack so that the top concealment panel conceals the fasteners from view from the top of the stack of pages.

  • Patent number: 5678733
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for dispensing liquid cleaning substances and is particularly useful for dispensing dishwashing detergents. The device is formed with a base and a means for supporting a liquid detergent container above the base. This support may take the form of an encircling wall that defines an enclosure for a pump style detergent container having a laterally projecting spout mounted in its mouth, or an upright stanchion that holds a detergent container at an elevated level above the base. In either event the device is provided with a concave, upwardly facing liquid detergent receptacle located atop the base and directly beneath the dispensing orifice of the liquid detergent container. A sponge support is formed atop the liquid detergent receptacle. The sponge support may include a mesh screen and is hinged relative to the base to rotate about a horizontal axis.

  • Patent number: 5598969
Abstract: A folder insert is provided for a bifolding folder or ring binder to expand the capacity thereof. The folder insert is formed of a single sheet of flat stock folded to form at least one rectangular support panel with opposing faces and at least one pair of separate pocket panels extending from the support panel. The pocket panels are folded across portions of the support panel against both of the opposing faces thereof and are anchored to the support panel along the bottom edge and at least one of the lateral edges of the support panel. The same sheet of flat stock includes an attachment flap extending along one of the lateral edges of the support panel. The attachment flap allows the folder insert to be attached inside a folder. In an alternative embodiment the sheet of flat stock forms a rectangular support panel and a single pocket panel folded across a portion of the support panel and is anchored thereto along the bottom edge and both of the lateral edges.

  • Patent number: 5566979
Abstract: An insert is provided for a bifolding folder having front and back covers. The insert is a holder for a multipage document or other soft-covered document, such as a magazine, bound by staples or adhesive along its spine. The holder of the invention is formed as a stiff, elongated, flat strip with a narrow, elongated document slot defined therewithin. The document slot receives substantially half of the pages of the soft document, which is held to the strip by a retaining bar on one side of the slot. The holder also includes an attachment hinge joined to the strip and having elongated, longitudinally extending anchoring and holder attachment leaves. The holder attachment leaf is secured to the strip along its length by adhesive or other types of fasteners. The anchoring leaf may have a layer of adhesive disposed thereon or it may be formed of a heat sealable material. The anchoring leaf is adapted for attachment to the inside surface of either the front or back cover of the folder.

  • Patent number: 5553891
Abstract: A holder for a multipage document employs a stiff, flat, thin, elongated suspension strip which defines a narrow, elongated document slot therewithin. The document slot is of a size to receive therethrough a substantial number of pages of the multipage document. The pages of the document thereby hang in two substantially equal sections from both sides of the strip. A jacket is provided to form a pair of opposing covers that enclose the document therebetween. The jacket is secured to the suspension strip by a clamp, adhesive, fasteners extending therethrough, or any other convenient means. The holder may be provided with hooks at its opposite ends for engaging the rails of a hanging file frame in a file drawer, or a hook for hanging the document from a peg or some other support. The hooks may be mounted for longitudinally reciprocal movement relative to the suspension strip. The jacket is optionally provided with one or more pockets.

  • Patent number: 5503487
Abstract: A separator page is provided for a set of papers of uniform size and shape. The separator page preferably has the same rectangular size and shape as each of the papers in the set of papers. At an unbound edge the separator page has a plurality of parallel, uniformly space slots of uniform length. These slots are spaced a uniform distance from the selected unbound edge. An index tab has a labeling portion wider than the distance between the slots and the edge along which the slots are aligned. A pair of insertion ears extend in opposite directions from the labeling portion of each index tab. Each of the ears is of such a width as to fit snugly into the slots. The index tabs are thereby removably and selectively positionable at different locations along the mounting edge with the ears thereof inserted into alternatively selected slots. The labeling portion of the index tab projects outwardly from the selected unbound edge of the set of papers, and is thereby visible in between the papers.
