  • Patent number: 8325110
Abstract: A plasma display panel having a power supply unit connected to a scan driver without a bootstrap circuit. The driver includes a power supply unit supplying a first output voltage of a first level and has a pair of output terminals, a scan driving unit comprising a first driving switch controlling the connection of one of output terminals of the power supply unit to the electrodes of the plasma display panel and a second driving switch controlling the application of a second output voltage of a second level to the electrodes of the plasma display panel, and a third driving switch that controls the connection of a power input terminal of the second output voltage of the second level to the electrodes of the plasma display panel by being connected between the power input terminal of the second output voltage of the second level and the second driving switch.

  • Publication number: 20080224958
Abstract: In a plasma display device and a driving apparatus thereof, a scan electrode driver for applying a driving voltage to a scan electrode has a diode including a cathode coupled to a sustain voltage supplying power and an anode coupled to a switch for applying a reset rising waveform to the scan electrode. In the scan electrode driver, when a switch for applying a reset rising waveform is turned on, the voltage at the scan electrode is gradually increased by a voltage that is less than the sustain voltage due to the breakdown voltage of the diode. Therefore, the number of power sources is reduced simplifying the circuit configuration and reducing the plasma display device production cost.

  • Publication number: 20080174586
Abstract: A plasma display device and a power supply thereof is provided. The power supply includes a power supply unit, a first output unit, a second output unit and a converter. The power supply unit includes a switching transistor, which is coupled to a primary coil of a transformer for transforming an input voltage, and provides power to a first secondary coil and a second secondary coil of the transformer according to operation of the switching transistor. The first output unit outputs a first voltage generated at the first secondary coil of the transformer, and a second voltage generated by decreasing the first voltage. The second output unit outputs a third voltage generated at the second secondary coil. The converter generates fourth and fifth voltages by converting a voltage that is higher than the second voltage and is generated by using the first and second voltages.

  • Patent number: 6535184
Abstract: A dynamic driving vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) preventing erroneous activation of a phosphor layer by leakage electrons and allowing a simpler wiring structure is disclosed. The VFD has a substrate; a plurality of anodes formed on the substrate, phosphor layers formed on the respective anodes; cathodes located above the phosphor layers to generate electrons which strike the phosphor layers; and conductive ribs formed of an electrically conductive material on the substrate so as to surround at least a portion of a periphery of each of the phosphor layers and having a predetermined height. Each of the conductive ribs not only accelerates the electrons when a positive voltage is applied, but also cuts off the electrons from activation of the phosphor layers when a negative or zero cut-off voltage is applied.

  • Patent number: 5977723
Abstract: A ballast circuit for a fluorescent lamp for starting the fluorescent lamp and a compact fluorescent lamp is provided. The ballast circuit adopts a bypass capacitor which bypasses a high frequency and high harmonics to a smoothing portion for compensating a recovery characteristic of a rectification diode which causes a problem by feeding back high frequency currents (most of them are I.sub.L) which flow during the ignition of a lamp to a power source input, and including a high frequency component much included in a rectifying and smoothing operation. Thus, a power factor increases 95% or more.
