  • Patent number: 10490178
Abstract: A rugged noise muffler system is configured to substantially surround sound-emitting openings in a working unit or structure, to absorb sound emitted from the sound-emitting openings. A barrier component, formed as a housing, covers a sound emitting opening to inhibit sound from emanating from the housing, except at an open end of the housing. Each sound emitting opening in the working unit or structure requires a housing positioned over same. The housing includes a hood portion and an elongate portion that includes the open end of the housing. The inner surfaces of the hood portion and an elongate portion are lined with sound absorbing material. The emitted sound first enters the hood portion, is partially absorbed therein and any unabsorbed sound passes into and is substantially absorbed in the elongate portion as the sound travels towards the open end of the housing.

  • Publication number: 20190014842
Abstract: A garment engaged in a sound-reducing state includes a first garment portion formed with a sound-absorbing material with transmission loss properties and configured to surround a wearer's head and ears to form a substantially enclosed reduced-sound zone, when the first garment portion is engaged in a sound-reducing state. The garment also includes a second garment portion operable with the first garment portion, for example, where the first garment portion is a hood and the second garment portion is the body of a hooded sweatshirt. In the sound-reducing state, the sound-absorbing barrier material reduces an amount of sound passing through the sound-absorbing material and over the material on the inside of the reduced-sound zone into the substantially enclosed reduced-sound zone.

  • Patent number: 10172588
Abstract: An ultrasound flashlight (USFL) configured to present an ultrasound image of a needle inserted in an animal body to deliver a treatment solution to a target structure location, where the image is used to guide a practitioner's positioning a delivery end of the needle. The ultrasound flashlight (USFL) includes a needle with a delivery opening for delivering the treatment solution and an access end opposite the delivery end. An insert is inserted in a lumen extending along a longitudinal axis of the needle housing between the access end and the delivery opening. The insert includes piezoelectric elements that are aligned in the lumen at communication ports in the needle housing, which ports are configured to pass ultrasound energy from inside to outside without passing the treatment solution. The energy from the elements is presented in a display image.

  • Patent number: 10013968
Abstract: A sound focusing mechanism for generating a focused source of sound provides for identifying a transmission loss of an object, areas of acoustic or thermal leakage within or acoustic flanking paths associated with the object. The sound focusing mechanism includes a housing having at least one wall formed from a material having high sound transmission loss properties. A sound generating device for generating a sound is located with a central cavity within the housing. An actuator assembly is operatively connected to the sound generating device for selectively operating the sound generating. The sound focusing mechanism is used in a method of determining the sound transmission loss and flanking paths of an object, as well as thermal loss.
