    Abstract: A method includes obtaining a set of signal quality measurements. The signal quality measurements correspond to reference signals, respectively, from among a plurality of reference signals received at an electronic device. The method includes determining whether a change in amplitude in the set of signal quality measurements satisfies a temporal condition. The method includes in response to a determination that the change in amplitude in the set of signal quality measurements satisfies the temporal condition, triggering the electronic device to perform radar operations to determine whether a location of an object in proximity to the electronic device satisfies a proximity condition. The method includes in response to a determination that the location of the object satisfies the proximity condition, changing a transmission parameter of uplink wireless signals to satisfy a maximum permissible exposure (MPE) of the object to radio frequency energy.
