  • Patent number: 7131764
Abstract: A backlight apparatus includes a guiding element and a light source disposed at one side of the guiding element. There is a plurality of reflective patterns at the bottom surface of the guiding element. Each reflective pattern is composed of at least one concavity and at least one convexity. The concavity is disposed at the rim around the convexity. As the light source emits light to the guiding element, the reflective area is increased by the concavity of the reflective pattern for increasing the reflecting effect and for distributing the brightness more uniformly, and thereby higher brightness and uniformity can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20060104067
Abstract: The present invention discloses a heat-dissipating method and structure for a backlight module of a display device, which can improve the heat-dissipating ability of the backlight module of a display device. Via shifting the disposing direction of the liquid crystal panel, the present invention enables the control-drive element and the related circuit boards, which are disposed on the rear face of the backlight module, to keep away from the heat-concentrated region so that the disposing positions of the control-drive element and the circuit boards will not overlap the heat-concentrated region of the backlight module; thus, the heat-dissipating ability can be improved. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, a heat-dissipating component, such as a set of heat-dissipating fins, is installed in the heat-concentrated region in order to increase the heat-dissipating area thereof; thus, the heat-dissipating ability can be further improved, and the heat distribution is to be uniform.

Abstract: A reflecting structure for planar gas discharge lamps to improve luminance includes a front glass panel on a light emission side, a rear glass panel on a backlight side, at least one pair of electrodes, a fluorescent layer abutting the light emission side and a reaction gas held between the front glass panel and the rear glass panel. The electrodes have a voltage difference to activate the reaction gas to generate discharge which actuates the fluorescent layer to generate light. The light emits through the light emission side of the front glass panel. The invention further provides a light reflective element to reflect the light passing through the backlight side to the front light emission side to increase light utilization and improve the luminance of the light emission side.

  • Patent number: 6447136
Abstract: In a backlight system of a liquid crystal display, a light guide plate includes a plurality of reflector units. The light guide plate is in wedge or flat shape, which has a front surface, a back surface, and four side surfaces. The plurality of reflector units are integrally formed with the back surface of the light guide plate, each of which is designed as an annular protrusion. Through one of the four side surfaces, a light beam irradiated by a lamp propagates into the light guide plate. Regardless of the propagating direction, part of the light beam is reflected by the reflector unit into two reflective light beams that are then refracted out of the front surface of the light guide plate. Therefore, the light guide plate according to the present invention achieves an excellent reflective efficiency.
