    Inventors: Bor-Luen Chiang, Chung-Sheng Huang
  • Patent number: 8188262
Abstract: Provided herein are compounds, methods and compositions for treating allergic diseases. In particular, an isolated double stranded short interfering ribonucleic acid (siRNA) with a ribonucleotide sequence complementary to at least a portion of a target gene RNA such as an airway inflammation related-gene RNA, thereby resulting in the cleavage of the expressed target gene RNA via RNA interference mechanism, and is useful as a medicament for treating allergy by alleviating or minimizing airway inflammation of a subject.

  • Publication number: 20110038882
Abstract: A method for treating or alleviating allergic disease in a mammal in need thereof having administering to the mammal a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition having phycocyanin is provided. A method for modulating balance between Th1 and Th2 immune response in a mammal in need thereof, having administering to the mammal an effective amount of phycocyanin, wherein immune response of the mammal is skewed toward the Th1 immune response is also provided. Phycocyanin from Bangia atropupurea (Ba-PC) is identified to regulate mammalian immunological response indicating that Ba-PC can direct skewed immune response toward Th1 response through modulating DC function, increase proliferative activity of antigen-specific T cells and alleviate airway inflammation, confirming that phycobiliproteins are effective in treating allergic disease.

  • Publication number: 20080305124
Abstract: The present invention is related to an oral pertussis vaccine and a method for producing pertussis vaccine, wherein the oral pertussis vaccine comprises amino acid sequence of 1094 to 1279 (SEQ ID NO.1) of filamentous hemagglutinin. The method for producing pertussis vaccine comprises following steps: constructing a vector comprising amino acid sequence of 1094 to 1279 (SEQ ID NO. 1) of filamentous hemagglutinin; transforming the vector into Agrobacterium successfully; co-culturing vector containing Agrobacterium with plant; and obtaining successfully a transformed plant as the vaccine. The present invention is also related to a polypeptide containing SEQ ID NO.1.
