  • Patent number: 8526717
Abstract: A method of finding targets in a color image applies ratio space rich colored filtering to identify a band of pixels that form a transition zone from one rich color to another. This pixel band is reduced to a rich color transition curve. A set of transition curves with simple geometric and color properties for the entire image, can be compared to a database of target properties to identify a target in an image.

  • Patent number: 8064691
Abstract: A method for identifying color in a target creates a ratio color space by determining the largest color component value of each pixel in an image and creating a ratio of all of the color component value with the largest component value for each pixel. The ratio for the color component of each pixel undergoes a threshold test to identify each color component as a rich shade or a fade shade. The ratio space color components are converted to a black and white image. Color information of adjacent pixels are clumped together to form blobs of the same color. The blobs are filtered by shape, color, location, or orientation and sorted to find targets that consist of a predefined pattern with the desired characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20040119194
Abstract: A method for making an electrode for an electrochemical cell. The electrode is preferably made by mixing and heating an active electrode material with a polymeric binder in an extruder to form an active composition. The active composition is extruded out of the opening of the extruder as a sheet of material which may be affixed to a conductive support.

  • Patent number: 5280066
Abstract: A thermoplastic blend of a polyalkylene terephthalate, polyolefin and a functionalized elastomer has improved impact strength while maintaining other needed properties including tensile strength, tensile elongation, and flexural modulus. Recycled polypropylene and PET plastics can be combined with a relative small amount of the functionalized elastomer to provide a blend useful for molding battery containers and other plastic structural members such as automotive components.

  • Patent number: 5173362
Abstract: Substrates for electrode systems, particularly those to be used for bipolar electrodes in zinc-bromine batteries, are disclosed. The substrates preferably include carbon-black as a conductive filler in a polymeric matrix, with reinforcing materials such as glass fibers. Warpage of the zinc-bromine electrodes which was experienced in the prior art and which was believed to be caused by physical expansion of the electrodes due to bromine absorption by the carbon-black, is substantially eliminated when new substrate fabrication techniques are employed. In the pesent invention, substrates are prepared using a lamination process known as glass mat reinforced thermoplastics technology or, in an alternate embodiment, the substrate is made using a slurry process.

  • Patent number: 5147057
Abstract: A single service container having a closure cap with a recessed portion extending generally interiorly of said container. A tab is defined by a score line which, upon deflection of a an actuating member on the cap, substantially separates from the remainder of the recessed portion forming an opening in the cap. Once the tab has been separated, it is deflected through the opening and prevented from obstructing the opening by the actuating member being positioned in an interference relationship between the interior of the container, adjacent the opening, and the tab.

  • Patent number: 5001935
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the environmental stress crack resistance of plastic articles, such as polyethylene terephthalate containers, are provided. In accordance with the method of the invention, the internal chamber of a hollow plastic article is pressurized, the exterior of the base is then exposed to an environmental stress cracking agent, and it is then determined if crazing and/or changes in the base clearance of the plastic article have occurred. Subsequent increases in pressure and subsequent exposures and determinations yield information on the environmental stress cracking characteristics of the container.
