Publication number: 20190184165Abstract: A method is provided for implanting, in an eye of a subject, an implantable retinal stimulator having (i) an electrode array including electrodes; (ii) a plurality of photosensors; and (iii) driving circuitry, configured to drive the electrodes to apply currents to a retina of the eye. A surface of the retina is contacted with a tissue-contact surface of an anchoring-element-receiving portion of a frame. Subsequently, the frame is anchored to the retina by penetrating scleral tissue of the subject by advancing an anchoring element through an opening defined by the anchoring-element-receiving portion of the frame and into the scleral tissue such that the anchoring element secures the frame to the retina. Subsequently, using the frame, the implantable retinal stimulator is positioned in an epi-retinal position such that the electrode array penetrates the retina. Other embodiments are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 21, 2019Publication date: June 20, 2019Applicant: NANO RETINA LTD.Inventors: Boris DEGTIAR, Rani MENDELEWICZ, Yaakov MILSTAIN, Yossi GROSS, Dorit RAZ PRAG, Matan ZEHAVI, David RIGLER

Patent number: 10071198Abstract: A variable flexibility adhesive system may adhere a surface of a medical infusion device to the skin of a user. The system may be configured to hold a location on the surface stationary with respect to a site on the user's skin. The system may include an adhesive substrate for adhering to the user and an interface where the substrate is held to the surface of the device. The interface may totally and/or partially surround the stationary location. A skirt of the substrate may totally and/or partially surround the interface. Parts of the skirt may be stiffened. Optional features may include tabs for activation of the adhesive and/or a location for peeling the infuser away from the skin. Additionally or alternatively, the interface may have variable flexibility. Additionally or alternatively, the stiffener may include a plastic layer.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2012Date of Patent: September 11, 2018Assignee: West Pharma.
