  • Patent number: 8511651
Abstract: A heater unit is adapted to determine if a humidification chamber thermally coupled to a hot plate of the heater unit is effectively dry based on determining a thermal response of a hot plate of the heater unit. Also, the activation period during which the hot plate is being heated is adjusted toward an optimum period by adjusting the energization or power level to the heater element thereof in relation to the duration of a prior activation period. Further, the air flow rate of gas through the humidification chamber may be estimated based on a temperature of the hot plate determined in predetermined relationship to the beginning of an activation period.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 29, 2011
Date of Patent: August 20, 2013
    Assignee: Smiths Medical ASD, Inc.
    Inventors: Mikhail Fridberg, Boris Dubinsky

  • Patent number: 7591165
Abstract: A control circuit for scanning a pressure or force responsive sensor array is disclosed. Pressure or force sensors formed of an array of pressure or force responsive sensor elements can be used to acquire pressure or force measurements in response to an applied load. The control circuit can sample signals from the sensor elements to detect the pressure or force at one or more sensor elements of the sensor array. The circuit herein may provide for relatively faster scan rates. A user may define a subset or subsets of sensor elements of the sensor array to be scanned. Various methods and related circuitry for adjusting for sensor characteristics are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5559794
Abstract: A telecommunication system (10) with a distributed processor architecture having a central control processor (14) and a plurality of subprocessor controlled peripheral circuits (13) through which the central control processor (14) receives information and affects the central control of the telecommunication system (10), a selective remote interface assembly (11) which determines the operating state of the telecommunication system (10) and is connected with a single connection modem (30) and in which the selective remote interface assembly (11) selectively obtains a relatively full featured user through the single connection modem (30) when it is determined that the telecommunication system (10) is in an on-line state and to obtain a relatively limited user interface through the single connection modem (30) when it is determined that the telecommunication system (10) is in an off-line state.
