    Abstract: A system for hydrogen loading is provided. The system includes a substrate, such as that made from palladium, a matrix of nanotubes, for example, SWCNT, disposed on the substrate, and a coating, capable of dissociating hydrogen into its atomic form, covering the matrix of nanotubes. The presence of such a coating on the matrix of SWCNT can lead to a flux of hydrogen across the coating and facilitate loading of hydrogen into the nanotubes, when exposed to hydrogen at an appropriate effective pressure. The system may be also used to generate a thermal response.
