  • Publication number: 20060145807
Abstract: A device for providing electrical protection against voltage surges. The device comprises a protector unit connected to the electrical equipment via a connection circuit including an electric current interrupter means movable between a return position corresponding to the circuit being open-circuit, and a position for closing the circuit. The interrupter means is maintained in the closed position by a blocker means. Further, the connection circuit is opened when the temperature of the unit reaches a predetermined value, via an opener means that that contains means sensitive to the heat given off by the unit. The heat-sensitive means is functionally connected to an actuator means so that when the predetermined temperature is reached, the actuator means produces a force for deactivating the blocker means.

  • Publication number: 20060104003
Abstract: A device for protecting an electrical power distribution network against the overvoltages due to a lightning strike is disclosed herein. The device comprises a first electrode electrically coupled to the electrical power distribution network, a second electrode connected to a grounding conductor, focusing means capable of guiding an electric arc generated between the two electrodes toward a fractionation device, and a casing. The casing accommodates the two electrodes, the focusing means and the fractionation device. The casing is in communication with the outside through at least one discharge channel designed to substantially lower the temperature of the gases generated by the formation of the electric arc, wherein each discharge channel has at least one change of section.
