  • Patent number: 5364974
Abstract: Claimed is a process for the preparing 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-methoxybenzyl alcohol which is an effective stabilizer of polymer materials and a starting compound in synthesis of high- effective polynuclear phenolic stabilizers. It is an object of this invention to provide a simplification of the process and improve a quality of the target product. This object is attained by using N,N,N',N'-tetra-methyl-methylene-bis-amine as a catalyst with the molar ratio of 2,6-DTBP to formaldehyde to methanol to bis-amine as of 1.0:1.0-1.5:10-15: 0.01-0.50 and conducting a process at 60.degree.-100.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4232182
Abstract: A process for purifying isoprene produced by catalytic decomposition of dimethyldioxane from carbonyl compounds and cyclopentadiene which involves passing isoprene at a temperature of 40.degree. to 70.degree. C. through a bed of a solid product such as an anion exchange resin or alkali (the latter may be used with or without an inert carrier), followed by subjecting the isoprene to close fractionation performed with at least 50 theoretical plates and at a reflux ratio of at least 3. The process of the present invention enables practically complete purification of isoprene from carbonyl compounds and cyclopentadiene. The purified isoprene, when used as a monomer in the production of stereospecific isoprene rubber, results in high-quality products; and reduces by a factor of 2-3 the Ziegler catalyst consumption in the isoprene rubber synthesis.

  • Patent number: 4128708
Abstract: A process for preparing cis-polyisoprene which comprises polymerization of isoprene in a medium of a non-polar hydrocarbon solvent at a temperature ranging from 0.degree. to 60.degree. C in the presence of a catalyst comprising a reaction product of titanium tetrachloride and an intracyclic organo-aluminium compound having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R, the same or different, are H, CH.sub.3 ; taken in a molar ratio of 1:1.05-1.1 respectively; weight ratio of isoprene to said catalyst being equal to 100:0.2-0.7.The present invention makes it possible to improve the quality of the thus-obtained cis-polyisoprene and to increase the catalyst capacity by two times due to modification of its properties.
