  • Publication number: 20070294877
Abstract: The invention relates to the production of a planar commutator with a carbon running surface, wherein an annular closed corrugated conductor blank (1), comprising conductor segments (3) and bridging parts (4) connecting said bridging segments to each other, is produced by rolling from a longitudinal-stepped profiled strip section which is stamped on the edges thereof in order to create contact studs (7) and connection hooks (6). After the band section has been rolled, the contact studs (7) of the conductor segments are bent inwards in the direction of the axis (2) and are profiled on both axial front surfaces by means of a shearing process. The conductor blank is assembled with an annular carbon disk to form a composite part onto which a support element is molded by injection. The annular carbon disk is then subdivided into individual carbon segments and the bridging parts are removed or severed.

  • Patent number: 5353492
Abstract: A method for producing a molded plastic and copper flat rotary switch or commutator with parts of the segments lying in a cylindrical surface is disclosed. A cup-shaped unfinished piece is formed by modification of a flat material, having an outside annular flange and a number of axial grooves which are radially open on the inside as well as distributed uniformly around the periphery corresponding to the number of segments in the cylindrical part of the unfinished piece, on the outside of the cylindrical wall of the unfinished piece, a layer with a thickness which corresponds to the radial thickness of the material parts occluding the grooves radially on the outside is pushed, beginning at the flat part corresponding to the subsequent brush contact surface, toward the free end of the casing with formation of the annular flange and opening of the grooves.

  • Patent number: 4872255
Abstract: Anchoring elements of commutator lamellas are formed in a manner that of the inner circumference of the commutator mantle, longitudinal ribs 2 each having two longitudinal ridges 2a are formed by deforming without cutting the material of starting outline A, such as by trenching by plowing, the material mainly moving in a radial direction, whereby between the ribs 2 the longitudinal interspaces 3 are sharply defined. Subsequently, the ridges 2a are flattened by a flattening mandrel, whereby the prevailing part of the ridge mass is deformed in a tangential direction into the area of the longitudinal interspaces 3.
