  • Publication number: 20210162946
Abstract: A device (10) for detecting a belted condition for a seat belt system (12) of a motor vehicle (14) is presented. The device (10) comprises at least one transceiver (24) for electromagnetic waves as well as a transponder (28) and a controller (30). The first transceiver (24) is disposed, when viewed in the vehicle longitudinal direction (L), in front of or behind the sitting position of a vehicle occupant (16) and is connected to the controller (30) so as to transmit signals. The transponder (28) is arranged on webbing of the seat belt system (12) associated with the vehicle seat (19) and is configured to receive and automatically respond to scanning signals of the transceiver (24). The controller (30) is configured to detect, based on output signals of the first transceiver (24), whether the vehicle occupant (16) has correctly fastened the seat belt (18). Furthermore, a method for detecting a belted condition is suggested.

  • Patent number: 10059301
Abstract: A vehicle occupant protection device (10) for helping to protect an occupant of a seat of a vehicle includes an inertia member (66) that engages an element (54). The inertia member (66) is movable relative to the element (54) from an unactuated position to an actuated position in response to at least one sensed vehicle condition for activating the occupant protection device (10). A vertical axis (83) extends through the center of mass of the inertia member (66) when the inertia member (66) is in the unactuated position. At least one of the element (54) and the inertia member (66) has at least one planar surface (80) that extends at an angle relative to the vertical axis (54). The inertia member (66) and element (54) are movable relative to one another along the at least one planar surface (80) to place the inertia member (66) in the actuated position to activate the occupant protection device.

  • Patent number: 9499123
Abstract: An assembly for a belt retractor includes a vehicle-sensitive sensor and a holding fixture (10) for the sensor. The sensor and the holding fixture (10) have geometric designs that interact and are adjusted to each other so that the sensor can be mounted at various spatial orientations in the holding fixture (10). In a belt retractor for a vehicle seat belt comprising such assembly the holding fixture (10) is coupled with the sensor at a fixed position to the frame of the belt retractor in which a belt reel of the belt retractor is rotatably supported.

  • Patent number: 9283929
Abstract: A belt retractor (10) for a vehicle seat belt, includes a frame (12) provided with a plurality of blocking teeth (22), a belt reel (14) being rotatably supported in the frame (12) and a blocking tooth system (24) adapted to be engaged with the blocking teeth (22). A control lever (28) pivoted on the frame (12) and accommodates the belt reel (14). A sensor (34) actuates when a predetermined vehicle deceleration is exceeded. A control tooth system (26) with which the sensor (34) is adapted to interact is provided at the belt reel (14).
