  • Patent number: 8216215
Abstract: A skin treatment apparatus that includes, a disposable electrode carrier with a plurality of voltage-applying dome-shaped elements protruding from the surface of the electrode carrier. Further, the protruding elements are spaced apart in a pattern. The apparatus operates to apply a voltage to at least some of the protruding elements. The apparatus applies a voltage to the protruding elements with a magnitude that is sufficient to result in an electrical break down of the skin and thereby cause electric current enabling the desired treatment.

  • Publication number: 20120123397
Abstract: A controller, an external electrode and a probe to be inserted into a tissue volume. One end of the probe is terminated by one or more electrodes and the other end is connected to a load cell. The electrode end of the probe is inserted into a volume of adipose tissue to be treated. Intermittently different and low power RF energy is applied between the external electrode and the electrodes of the probe. Monitoring of the impedance between the external electrode and the probe electrodes enables probe guidance. Monitoring of the impedance between the probe electrodes helps characterize the aggregate state of the treated tissue volume and treatment end-point.
