  • Patent number: 7197941
Abstract: A method for selecting a polymeric insert to be chosen for its mechanical strength qualities to be incorporated into construction of a laminated glazing. The method evaluates the tear strength of the insert, and evaluates adhesion of the insert to at least one glass substrate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 17, 2003
Date of Patent: April 3, 2007
    Assignee: Saint-Gobain Glass France
Inventors: Jean-Clement Nugue, Boris Vidal, Emmanuel Nourry
  • Patent number: 7141282
Abstract: An insulating glazing unit including at least two glass sheets separated by, e.g., a gas-filled cavity. An insert serves for spacing the at least two glass sheets apart and has an internal face facing the gas-filled cavity and an opposed external face, together with a mechanism for sealing the inside of the glazing unit. The insert is in the form of a substantially flat profiled strip that girds the perimeter of the glazing unit by its internal face being pressed against the edges of the at least two glass sheets and held fast by a fastening device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 11, 2001
Date of Patent: November 28, 2006
    Assignee: Saint-Gobain Glass France
Inventors: Yves Demars, Jean-Cristophe Elluin, Boris Vidal
  • Publication number: 20060070694
Abstract: A laminated glazing material with properties of acoustic insulation and mechanical strength. The laminated glazing material including two glass sheets and a single-ply intermediate layer of a thickness having the form of a polymer film. The thickness of the intermediate layer being defined as a function of a variable which is specific to the material, and which defines the critical energy value of the intermediate layer and is representative of the energy necessary for propagation of a crack initiated in the intermediate layer.

  • Publication number: 20040157071
Abstract: Method for selecting a polymeric insert intended to be chosen for its mechanical strength qualities so as to be incorporated into the construction of laminated glazing, the method consisting in evaluating the tear strength of the insert, characterized in that it also consists in evaluating the adhesion of said insert to at least one glass substrate

  • Patent number: 6265054
Abstract: The invention relates to a composite glazing material of the type including two sheets of glass and an interlayer of transparent plastic of greater thickness than the thickness of the sheets of glass, characterized in that the plastic is capable of adhering to the glass. The glazing material has a total thickness smaller than 5 mm, a ratio of the thickness of the interlayer to the thickness of the sheets of glass of between 1 and 10, a mass per unit area lower than 6 kg/m2 and a Young's modulus higher than 30 GPa at a total thickness of glazing material of 3 mm.
