  • Patent number: 6035097
Abstract: An electrical heating unit, particularly for a hair drier, comprises a first wire heating element, in particular a spiral coil wire heating element (2) having a heat conductor support comprising at least one support plate (4, 5, 6), and a heat conductor winding (7) arranged thereon. This spiral coil wire heating element serves to heat the stream of air flowing through the hair drier. At least one second wire heating element is provided, serving the function of adapting the electrical voltage for a further electrical load, particularly as a series resistor, for a direct-current motor fitted with an impeller to produce the stream of air. The second wire heating element (3) comprises a frame-type heat conductor support (8) and a heat conductor winding (9) arranged thereon which fills the free area of cross section of the heat conductor support (8). Further, the second heating element (3) is secured to the first heating element (2).

  • Patent number: 6031210
Abstract: The invention is directed to an electric circuit configuration (1) for an electrical load, in particular for an electric hair dryer, a fan heater or the like. The circuit configuration (1) comprises two heating resistors (2, 6) in parallel arrangement, of which the second heating resistor (6) is equipped with a serial switch (5). The two heating resistors (2, 6) may be connected to an a.c. source. Furthermore, provision is made for a d.c. fan motor (11) connected to one of the two heating resistors (2) via a rectifier circuit (7). The rectifier circuit (7) includes two rectifiers (8, 9) in antiparallel arrangement having connected to their junction (10) one of the connecting points of the d.c. fan motor (11). The other connecting point of the d.c. fan motor (11) is connected to the second heating resistor (6) which is equipped with the serial switch (5).

  • Patent number: 5810911
Abstract: The invention is directed to a filter device (10) and to a method of cleaning such a filter device for an electrically powered air-moving hair-care appliance, in particular for a hair dryer, a hot-air curling brush or the like, with a filter element (12) having an inner and an outer side (25, 26), in which the inner side (25) of the filter element (12) is arranged in the area of an air entrance opening of the appliance. The filter element (12) is configured as a type of fabric, perforated foil or the like of small thickness, comprising in particular a screening fabric made of a plastic material.

  • Patent number: 5701681
Abstract: The invention is directed to a hand-held hair dryer including a housing (10) which is comprised of a handle (12) and an air-moving outer tube (14); the outer tube (14) possesses an inlet port (16) and an outlet port (18) for an air stream, and the housing accommodates a heater and a fan generating and heating the air stream. Arranged in the outer tube (14) is an inner tube (42) receiving at least the heater. In this arrangement, the inner tube (42) is manufactured from a material having a higher thermal stability than the outer tube, and the inner tube (42) terminates flush with at least the outlet port of the outer tube (14) or projects beyond the outlet port of the outer tube (14) in the direction of flow (64). A hair styling implement as, for example, a nozzle (44), a diffuser or the like, is attachable to the inner tube (42).

  • Patent number: 5448677
Abstract: A hair dryer has a housing including an air inlet opening and an air exit opening for passage of an air stream. The housing accommodates a blower structure and a heater, and the air inlet opening has associated to it a filter element. Provided in the housing are a detector producing an output signal in dependence upon at least one temperature prevailing in the housing and having associated thereto a signaling device which is actuatable on attainment of a predeterminable threshold value of the output signal. The signaling device indicates to the user of the hair dryer that the filter element requires cleaning or replacement.

  • Patent number: 4904845
Abstract: An electrical continuous flow water heater for an infusion beverage making appliance includes a hot plate serving to keep hot a beverage receptacle and which is located above and in heat exchange relationship with a heater element and water supply pipe disposed in a horse-shoe configuration. The temperature controller for controlling the temperature of the hot plate is mounted on one of a plurality of ribs provided on a support device thermally coupled to at least one of the supply pipe and heater element. Each rib is so sized and shaped and so located relative to the supply pipe and/or heater element to deliver solely through the rib a different amount of heat to a temperature controller mounted thereon. The temperature sensed by the controller is determined by the particularly rib on which the controller is mounted, thus permitting one type of continuous flow heater to keep hot flasks of different fill capacities place on the hot plate.

  • Patent number: 4758709
Abstract: An electric coffee maker has an electric flow-through brewing water heater with a heating resistor controlled by a temperature dependent regulating switch responsive to the temperature of the heating resistor, and a warming plate heated by the heating resistor for maintaining the prepared coffee at a desired drinking temperature. Apparatus for adjustably prolonging the interruption of heating current 2 to 5 times the normal cooling time of the regulating switch is connected in circuit with the heating resistor and the regulating switch, and a manually actuated small quantity control means connects the heating current interruption prolonging apparatus in circuit with the heating resistor and the regulating switch. The prolonging apparatus may be an adjustable auxiliary electric heater in parallel with the regulating switch and thermally coupled thereto or an adjustable timer in series with the heating resistor and regulation switch and triggered by the opening of the regulating switch.
