    Abstract: The Torque Transducer structure comprising a lower base plate, and an elongate torque member projecting vertically upwardly from the plate. The member has rigid upper and lower end portions and a central deflection portion that is rigid through a first radial plane through the structure and is flexible through a second radial plane of the structure which is at right angle to the first radial plane. The central portion of the member carries strain gauges and is torsionally deflected by torsional forces directed onto the upper end portion of the member. The member is subject to adverse lateral deflection through the second radial plane of the structure by lateral forces directed onto its upper end portion.     Abstract: A dial torque wrench structure including an elongate rigid metal lever arm with a work-related front end and a manually engageable rear end. An elongate resilient metal deflection beam with front and rear ends is positioned adjacent to and parallel with the arm. The rear end of the beam is fixed to the arm. An elongate work-engaging head has one end fixed to the front end of the beam with the axis of the beam and head at right angle. A force-indicating dial mechanism is carried by the arm rearward of the beam and includes a gear-multiplying dial works with an input lever and an output shaft; a dial card with calibrations thereon; and, an elongate pointer on the shaft directed to the calibration and electrically-grounded to the arm. The scales next include an elongate housing freely engaged about the central elastic portion and the inner end of the working end portion and releasably clampingly engaged with and about the inner end portion of the reaction portion. A circuit board and a battery power supply are mounted within the housing. The circuit board carries a bridge circuit in which the strain gauges are connected and a light emitting digital readout device which is visible through a window in the housing.

    Abstract: Improved, manually-operable, adjusting mechanisms for click-type, adjustable torque wrenches which include manually-engageable, resilient, plastic, tubular handgrips slidably engaged about the rear end portions of elongate, tubular, metal wrench lever arms and which are shiftable longitudinally from normal, forward positions in rotary-driving engagement with the arms to actuated rear positions out of rotary-driving engagement with the arm. The invention resides in an improved locking mechanism releaseably locking the grip in rotary-driving engagement with the arm when in its normal position and yieldingly permitting rotation of the grip relative to the arm when turning forces between the arm and grip exceed the shear strength of the material of which the grip is made.

    Abstract: Improvements in standard planing knife holders for standard disposable double-edged planing knives which include spring means carried by the holders to engage the bottoms of related knife-receiving channels in related planing knife driving shafts to normally yieldingly urge the holders and their related knives radially outward in the channels and relative to related screw actuated clamping bars within said channels and engaging the holders and knives. An improvement comprises permanent magnets carried by the holders with south poles spaced from opposing rear surfaces of related channels and with north poles contacting and holding the knives assembled with the holders. The improvements also include secondary permanent magnets carried by the holders with south poles spaced from the knives and clamping bars and north poles contacting and holding the holders on said rear surfaces.

    Abstract: A torque wrench structure comprising a reduction gear train within a case. The gear train includes an input shaft with an end accessible at the exterior of the case and an output shaft, a work engaging part at the exterior of the case concentric with the output shaft and coupling structure drivingly coupling the work engaging part with the output shaft. A reaction part with a body portion having a central opening freely accommodating said coupling structure is positioned adjacent the case. A plurality of circumferentially and radially spaced locking pins project from the body and engage in lock pin receiving structure in a part to be worked upon by the wrench. A plurality of circumferentially spaced elongate deflection beams project from the body and engaging stops on the case. Strain gauges are fixed to the deflection beams between the stops and the body.
