Abstract: Systems and methods for providing features that enable anti-malware protection on storage devices are described. In one embodiment, a storage device includes a controller, firmware, and memory. The controller manages input/output operations for the storage device. The firmware provides features for protection against malware. The memory includes secure storage that is configured to provide a set of storage operations.

Abstract: Provided are compositions comprising stamp sand granules embedded in asphalt, where the stamp sand granules comprise a silane coating. Additionally provided are methods of making a silane-coated stamp sand, the methods comprising combining stamp sand granules and a silane solution to form a mixture and drying the mixture. Additionally provided are methods of covering a surface, the methods comprising combining silane-coated particles and asphalt to provide a mixture and distributing the mixture on the surface.

Abstract: A safety guard which functions to push objects lying in the path of a vehicle out of the path of the wheels of the vehicle, such as a school bus, for safety purposes includes a front guard positioned at an angle in front of a wheel of the vehicle and is secured through a mounting plate unit to both a side panel and either a frame beam or floor board of the vehicle, with the frontal guard being supported in a cantilevered manner in front of the wheel. This configuration provides for a substantially universal mounting arrangement that can be particular advantageous in connection with school buses and other vehicles having underbody frame and support structure remote from the vehicle wheel.

Abstract: A sensing system includes integrated sensor locating capability. Sensors can transmit spread spectrum encoded data pulses which are received at mobile nodes. Based on time of arrival information and known locations of the mobile nodes, locations of the sensors can be determined.

Abstract: Aqueous film forming firefighting composition concentrates are provided that contain an effective amount of a monomelic zwitterionic or anionic C6 perfluoroalkyl surfactant having a molecule weight less than 800 daltons. The compositions also contain an effective amount of a foam stabilizing agent, and an effective amount of at least one non-fluorinated surfactant. The composition has less than 0.8% F, and is substantially free of any surfactant containing a perfluoroalkyl group containing more than 6 carbon atoms. The composition meets Military Specification MIL-F-24385F.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide for sliding apparatus comprising a slide portion having a first surface, a second surface, a proximal end and a distal end. In certain embodiments, at least one of the first surface or the second surface is configured to be placed over one or more stairs of a staircase, such that at least a portion of the first surface or the second surface is in direct contact with at least a portion of the one or more stairs of the staircase. The sliding apparatus also includes an anchor member coupled to the proximal end of the slide portion. The anchor member is configured to move from a contracted position to an extended position such that when the anchor member is in the extended position the anchor member is secured between a first vertical surface of the staircase and a second vertical surface of the staircase.

Abstract: Embodiments of systems, apparatuses, and methods for securely transferring data between a storage system and an agent are described. In some embodiments, a system establishes a tunnel between the storage system and the agent. The system further securely transfers the data between the storage system and the agent using the tunnel. In one embodiment, the tunnel uses an action and results mailbox to transfer the data. In another embodiment, the tunnel is based on a trusted send facility.

Abstract: A multi-tiered cache manager and methods for managing multi-tiered cache are described. Multi-tiered cache manager causes cached data to be initially stored in the RAM elements and selects portions of the cached data stored in the RAM elements to be moved to the flash elements. Each flash element is organized as a plurality of write blocks having a block size and wherein a predefined maximum number of writes is permitted to each write block. The portions of the cached data may be selected based on a maximum write rate calculated from the maximum number of writes allowed for the flash device and a specified lifetime of the cache system.

Abstract: An apparatus for storing, transporting and dispensing conveyor belts is described. The apparatus, in the form of a crate, has top and bottom conventional pallets, allowing for easy handling and strength for additional stacked crates. The center of the crate holds a hub assembly that moves rotationally, and allows smooth transition from consecutive layers of the conveyor belt wrapped thereon. During shipment, the roll of conveyor belt lies on its side. In one embodiment, a center pipe axle of the spool passes through holes in the top and bottom pallets. Alternatively, the center pipe axle passes through channels created between planks of the top and bottom pallets. These configurations secure the roll in the crate, and allow it to turn freely when loaded or unloaded.

Abstract: A hard, transparent coating for a substrate and associated method for coating is disclosed. The coating includes alternating layers of a soft coating and a hard coating. The coating further includes a sensor. The electrical resistivity of the sensor may be measured to determine if the coating has been degraded. The coating may further include a hydrophobic outer layer.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to apparel and/or clothing accessories containing a fluid container. In particular, disclosed are systems and methods for providing apparel and/or accessories that selectively contain a fluid container that can be filled with a drinkable liquid. The apparel item may include any clothing or object that is adapted to be worn by a person, such as a necktie. In some cases, the apparel item is made to receive and retain a liquid-tight container within an internal compartment of the apparel. A flexible tube is connected to the container and runs from within the apparel item out, so that a wearer can drink fluid from the container through the flexible tube. Additionally, in some cases, when inflated, the container provides a pillow or cushion.

Abstract: A system and method for supporting a virtual appliance is provided. In particular, a support engine may include an update server that can manage a workflow to update an appliance in response to detecting upstream updates to one or more software components that have been installed for the appliance. For example, the workflow may generally include managing a rebuild the appliance to install the upstream updates and further managing an integration test to verify that the rebuilt appliance behaves correctly with the upstream updates installed. In addition, the support engine may further include a support analysis manager that can analyze the software components that have been installed for the appliance in view of various heuristic rules to generate a support statement indicating whether support is available for the appliance.

Abstract: A stair-step, expandable file folder is disclosed, in which each pocket in the folder has the same depth, rather than the back pockets being deeper than the front pockets. The folder includes a series of dividers that form the front and back sides of the pockets of the folder. The top edges of the dividers have increasing height, from the front to the back of the folder. The dividers are folded to form the bottoms of the pockets, with the folded portions also increasing in height from the front to the back of the folder. Each divider extends downward to form the back face of a pocket, is folded forward to form the bottom face of the pocket, and is folded downward to extend toward the bottom edge of the folder. The troughs in an expandable gusset support the sides of the dividers. Above the fold portion, the divider laterally extends into one trough. Below the fold portion, the divider laterally extends into the adjacent trough toward the front of the folder.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of treating an ovarian cancer, the method comprising delivering one or more miR-200 family members to a mammalian subject in need thereof in an amount effective to treat the ovarian cancer. Also provided are methods of preventing metastasis of an ovarian cancer, the method comprising delivering one or more miR-200 family members to a mammalian subject in need thereof in an amount effective to prevent metastasis. Further provided are methods of sensitizing an ovarian cancer to a cytotoxic therapy, the method comprising delivering one or more miR-200 family members to a mammalian subject in need thereof in an amount effective to sensitize the ovarian cancer to the cytotoxic therapy. The invention also contemplates methods of reducing epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in an ovarian cancer or cancer cell as well as methods of inducing mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition (MET).

Abstract: A gear shifting device for shifting gears of a transmission includes: at least one guide rail each extending in a longitudinal axis; a plurality of shift effecting members configured to move a plurality of corresponding sliding sleeves coupled to the guide rail for shifting gears, the shift effecting members each having a terminal end portion with a finger receiving opening formed therein, the finger receiving opening extending in a direction generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the guide rail; and a shift shaft extending in a direction generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the guide rail, the shift shaft having a shift finger coupled thereto. The shift shaft is rotatable to pivotally position the shift finger at locations aligned with the finger receiving openings of the shift effecting members, and is also displaceable in the longitudinal direction in the finger receiving openings to move the shift effecting members to effect a gear shifting operation.
