The prospective participants input profile information, which is preferably authenticated, and thereby enrolls in the electronic funds transfer program. Subsequent to enrollment automatic electronic funds transfers between an enrollee and another party are initiated on a periodic basis in accordance with the profile information. The system operator maintains a database that stores and operates on the profile information.
