  • Publication number: 20100324969
Abstract: A system and method for implementing End-Of-Round (EOR) calculations in computer implemented multiple round auctions. The EOR process allows for the adjustment of price, quantity, and other parameters, and also adjusts bids as necessary in accordance with the auction rules, parameter values, and constraints. Feasible starting points for the EOR process can be determined based on the post-EOR adjusted bids following the previous round, or based on bids submitted in the round just ended. Bid deviations based on switching and/or reductions in eligibility can be analyzed. Bid requests can be evaluated and granted based on auction rules, parameter values, and/or constraints. Bids can be rolled-back to realize a feasible solution. The EOR process can iteratively loop through the collection of bid deviations until all the bid deviations have been considered, or until an established time limit is reached.

  • Publication number: 20090219196
Abstract: A radar information processing system is operable to process high bandwidth radar information received from a radar system into low bandwidth radar information that may be communicated to a low bandwidth connection coupled to an electronic flight bag (EFB). An exemplary embodiment receives radar information from a radar system, the radar information communicated from the radar system at a first bandwidth; processes the received radar information into processed radar information, the processed radar information configured for communication over a connection operable at a second bandwidth, the second bandwidth lower than the first bandwidth; and communicates the radar information from a radar system, the radar information communicated from the radar system at a first bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 7550984
Abstract: A cable includes an inner conductor, an inner dielectric, and a guard conductor, where the inner dielectric is between the inner conductor and the guard conductor. The cable also includes an outer dielectric, and a shield conductor, where the outer dielectric is between the guard conductor and the shield conductor. The cable further includes an additional layer of material between the outer dielectric and the shield conductor of suitable composition for reducing triboelectric current generation between the outer dielectric and the shield conductor to less than that which would occur were the outer dielectric and the shield conductor to directly adjoin each other.

  • Publication number: 20090112751
Abstract: A system and method for implementing and conducting a 2-phase clock and sealed-bid auction for a multi-part product includes more than one remote computer stations connected to a network, a web server to receive and store bid information and auction parameters. The web server can include application software configured to initiate a clock phase and a sealed-bid phase. The clock phase generally includes presenting bidders with an initial price structure for the multi-part product, receiving bids from each of the bidders, storing the bids, and comparing the bids to a transition rule. The software can initiate the sealed-bid phase based on the comparison between the bids and the transition rule. The seal-bid phase generally includes providing sealed-bid parameters to the bidders, receiving a sealed-bid from the bidders, and determining an auction winner based on a selection rule.

  • Patent number: 7502458
Abstract: In some embodiments, the present invention provides a distributed monitoring, evaluation and routing (“DiMER”) system capable of active management of data network-based telephony. Such a system, and data network-based telephony incorporating the same, advantageously routes calls to meet call quality standards, connection speed and/or cost goals, among other targets. To meet such quality standards, the system incorporates preferences with periodically obtained call-related data and analysis, and revises call routing, as appropriate, by shifting or reallocating call traffic between available terminating gateways (based on their performance and caller preferences).

  • Patent number: 7488265
Abstract: A training device for throwing a baseball includes a plate assembly that is pivotally connected to a support member. The plate assembly includes a flat, rectangular balance plate and a sleeve disposed transversely across the bottom surface of the balance plate. The support member includes an elongated support arm on which the sleeve is adapted to teeter and a generally T-shaped strike plate connected to the support arm. In use, the training device can be used in the following manner to train a pitcher to exert maximum rear leg drive while throwing a baseball. Specifically, the training device is disposed on a flat, level flooring surface such that the plate assembly teeters on the support member. The pitcher then centers his rear foot on the balance plate and lifts his front knee. At this time, the pitcher drives his rear knee forward until the balance plate pivots forward and contacts the strike plate which in turn generates an audible signal.

  • Patent number: 7184429
Abstract: A system, method and apparatus are presented for the adaptive optimization of call quality and marginal profit in a telephony over data network, where the network contains a plurality of destinations, where calls are routable to each destination via a plurality of gateways in route to such destination, and where said gateways may serve more than one destination. The method comprises continually monitoring call traffic to each destination to first analyze whether the destination is currently volatile. If it is not, no action is taken. If it is, the method then reallocates the destination's traffic among some or all of the gateways in route to it.

  • Patent number: 7042998
Abstract: A method and system is provided wherein routing information is obtained from previously cached information or from a gatekeeper. An originating gateway in a network receives a request for a connection and determines whether pertinent routing information is cached. If available, the cached routing is used to attempt to establish a connection. If no previously established routing is available, the originating gateway requests preferred routing from a gatekeeper, including prioritized selections of terminating gateways through which to make a connection to a designated call recipient. In a further embodiment of the invention, a process is provided to respond to a complaint regarding the quality of service. The system determines whether the reported problem is general or isolated; if it is general, alternate call routing is devised.

  • Patent number: 6669639
Abstract: An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system cart is provided with an articulation mechanism for the image display. The articulation mechanism is pivotally mounted to the cart and to the display and includes an intermediate pivot elbow which allows the display to be moved laterally and forward and back from its nominal home position. One arm of the articulating mechanism is inclined to allow the display to clear other components of the cart when articulated and to prevent the development of pinch points. One of the joints of the articulating mechanism includes a locking device which selectively locks the joint to alter the articulation characteristic of the mechanism.
