  • Publication number: 20250114851
Abstract: A handheld ring cutter is disclosed. The ring cutter has a cutting progress indicator associated with a rotational position of a safety guard about a guard rotation axis, a guard position sensor located to sense the rotational position, and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the guard position sensor and the cutting progress indicator. The processors are configured to collectively direct the safety guard actuator to move the safety guard relative to the circular blade, periodically or continuously receive position signals from the guard position sensor, and periodically or continuously direct the cutting progress indicator to update based on the position signals.

  • Publication number: 20250114850
Abstract: A handheld ring cutter is disclosed. The ring cutter includes a body, a blade motor having a motor rotation axis extending in a longitudinal direction, a circular blade, a blade rotation axis extending in a lateral direction, a safety guard, and an electro-mechanical safety guard actuator. The drive shaft protrudes in the lateral direction out of the body, and the circular blade is mounted to the drive shaft outside of the body at a position spaced from the body in the lateral direction. The safety guard is located outside of the body at a position spaced from the body in the lateral direction, and the safety guard is aligned with the circular blade.

  • Publication number: 20250032125
Abstract: A compression device for freeing a ring trapped on a digit includes a rigid outer body. The rigid outer body includes a digit cavity extending from a cavity opening at a body proximal end of the body towards a body distal end of the body, a fluid inlet, and a fluid flow path fluidly connecting the fluid inlet to one or more inflation chambers positioned in the digit cavity. The body proximal end includes an upper portion, a lower portion, and two laterally spaced-apart side portions. At least one side portion is distally recessed as compared to the upper and lower portions to accommodate an interdigital fold. At least one flexible bladder lines the digit cavity, each flexible bladder defining at least one wall of one of the one or more inflation chambers.

  • Patent number: 12208456
Abstract: A method of medical treatment for transecting a ring trapped on an appendage of a patient is described. The method of medical treatment includes inserting a safety guard between the appendage and a portion of the ring, activating a blade motor to rotate a rotary blade aligned with the safety guard, sensing status readings, and transecting the portion of the ring including automatically directing a safety guard actuator to move the safety guard, based at least in part on the status readings, toward the rotary blade thereby urging the ring into contact with the rotary blade.

  • Publication number: 20230131317
Abstract: A ring cutter for transecting a ring trapped on an appendage. The ring cutter includes a body, a motor housed in the body, a blade drivingly connected to the motor, a guard coupled to the body, a guard actuator drivingly connected to the guard and controlling a movement of the guard, a current sensor positioned to sense electrical current associated with the motor, and a processor communicatively coupled to the current sensor and the guard actuator. The blade has a rotation axis and a peripheral cutting edge. The guard is insertable between the ring and the appendage to position the ring between the guard and the blade. The processor is configured to: i) receive, from the current sensor, an electrical current reading associated with the motor, and ii) transmit, to the guard actuator, one or more commands to control the movement of the guard based on the electrical current reading.
